Black Friday can bring some incredible travel deals, but waiting doesn't always mean getting the best vacation for your money.

Here's why:

• Flights fill up. ✈️
Those convenient nonstop flights from Winnipeg might not be available when the sales arrive.

• Popular resorts sell out. 🏖
Your preferred resort, room category or travel dates could become harder to find.

• Big discounts don't always mean the best value. 💰 It's the final price AND what's included that really matter.

• Less flexibility means fewer options. 📅
Travelling over Spring Break, Christmas or school holidays? Planning early can make a big difference.

Don't get me wrong. I love a good Black Friday deal!

The trick is knowing what's a genuinely good offer and what's just flash marketing.

Albania feels like one of Europe’s best “why aren’t more people talking about this?” destinations 🇦🇱

Winter trips have a way of sneaking up fast 👀✈️

If you’re thinking about travelling in January, February or March, now is a good time to start looking.

Especially for:

🏝️ Winter sun
⛷️ Ski trips
👨‍👩‍👧 Family vacations
🏨 Popular resorts
✈️ Direct flights
📅 Specific travel weeks

Waiting can work sometimes, but if you need certain dates, a specific room type, a direct flight or a popular resort, the options can tighten up quickly.

A good target is usually 3 to 6 months out, especially for winter escapes.

More flight options.
Better room choices.
Less stress once your dates are set.

Trip idea: Costa Rica Itinerary 🇨🇷

Cheap Costa Rica flights have been catching my eye lately, and this is exactly the kind of trip I’d build around one.

Not just fly somewhere warm and stay put.

Costa Rica works best when you build a route with a little variety.

Start in Liberia.
Add La Fortuna for volcano views, hot springs, waterfalls and hanging bridges.
Continue to Uvita or Manuel Antonio for beaches, rainforest, wildlife and coastal sunsets.
Finish with slower beach time in Guanacaste.

Warm weather.
Rainforest.
Wildlife.
Volcanoes.
Waterfalls.
Beach towns.

The flight gets your attention.

The route is what makes the trip.

Costa Rica looks small on a map, but drive times and flow really matter. That’s where good planning makes a big difference.

Jackie and Brian’s Scotland adventure is officially underway, and these are exactly the kinds of updates I love seeing come through.
