After 22 years behind the chair, I’ve learned that being a hairstylist requires more than passion and talent. It requires taking care of the body that makes it all possible.

De Quervain’s tenosynovitis has reminded me that years of repetitive cutting, styling, gripping, and long hours can take a serious toll on our hands and wrists.

As much as I love creating beautiful transformations, my health must come first. Sometimes that means limiting certain services, adjusting my schedule, and allowing my body time to recover.


To my fellow beauty professionals: ✂️

We cannot continue to pour into everyone else while neglecting ourselves. Take your breaks. Invest in proper equipment. Practice healthy body mechanics. Pay attention to recurring pain. Seek medical attention when necessary, and never feel guilty for putting your health first.
