Here at Sugary Sands, we believe in soaking up the sun—literally! Exuma blesses us with sunshine year-round, so we figured, why not put all that glorious sunlight to work? In the Fall of 2024, we took a big step toward sustainability by installing solar panels. Our goal? To reduce our reliance on Exuma’s already overworked power grid and be good stewards of this island paradise. The result? We’re now running on almost 90% solar power!
And don’t worry about the occasional island power outage—we’ve got three massive battery backups to keep things running smoothly. So, while the rest of the island might be lighting candles and breaking out the hand fans, you’ll be kicking back in the cool A/C, binge-watching your favorite show or finally finishing that book you packed.
But wait, there’s more! In addition to harnessing the sun’s energy, we’ve also installed brand-new hurricane-resistant windows and doors. Because while we love the island breeze, we’d rather keep it outside where it belongs. Now, you can rest easy knowing that you’re not only vacationing in paradise but you're also in a home built to withstand the elements.
At Sugary Sands, we believe in doing our part for Exuma’s future—one solar panel, one energy-efficient upgrade, and one less plastic bottle at a time. So come enjoy your stay, guilt-free, knowing you’re kicking back in a vacation rental that’s as eco-friendly as it is luxurious. 🌴☀️🌊
