WHO declares Monkeypox a global health emergency
With more than 16,000 cases reported from 75 countries so far, the World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the monkeypox outbreak as a global health emergency, today.
In the region, India has already reported three cases of monkeypox.
According to the Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Bhutan, monkeypox symptoms include backache, fever, headache, exhaustion, muscle aches and swollen lymph nodes. The ministry says avoiding close contact with people who have symptoms, washing hands with soap and water, and avoiding animals that could harbour the virus can prevent a person from getting infected.
