Today, White-bellied Heron was sighted at the Punatshangchhu-II Dam water reservoir. A lone heron, likely of first year juvenile that was fledged in previous year from nearby nesting site was observed.
The sighting is significant as it marks the crucial ecology for herons to adapt the varying conditions of the habitat change.

This water reservoir is gaining popularity both for the waterbirds and the bird watchers in the country. A recent record of Oriental Darter, that is added new record for the country was also observed from the area a fortnight ago. Today, the Oriental Darter was observed to present at the same area.

50 years Throwback post

Archery holds a special place in Bhutanese culture as the national sport, embodying tradition, skill, and camaraderie. The picture depicts the timeless allure of archery, with traditional bamboo bows and arrows, showcasing the craftsmanship and heritage associated with the sport.

Throughout history, archery has been more than just a game in Bhutan; it's a cultural event that brings communities together. Today, it continues to thrive as a popular pastime, played in villages, towns, and even urban centers. Amidst the modernization of Bhutan, archery remains a cherished tradition, with competitions held during festivals, gatherings, and special occasions.

The popularity of archery reflects its significance beyond mere recreation; it symbolizes Bhutan's commitment to preserving its cultural roots in the face of change.

Lord Buddha's Parnivarna(full moon)
Every year 15th day, 4th month of lunar calender is celebrated as Buddha's Parnivarna. The day is rarest and the most auspicious as it remarks the 5 major events happened in the deeds of Buddha's life.

1. Conceived. Entered into the womb of queen Maha Maya in the form of white elephant with 6 tusks (full moon day, 4th month)
