The Central Monastic Body arrived at Punakha Dzong (Puna-Dewa-Chenpoi-Phodrang) from Thimphu today for their winter residence, as Punakha is much warmer la. The entourage took a night halt at Thinleygang before reaching Punakha. Hundreds of devotees received blessings from the sacred relics along the way la.
This sacred tradition of maintaining separate summer and winter residences dates back to the time of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in the early 17th century.

Exceptional guide services and an incredible Bhutan Experience
I recently returned from the 2025 trip to Bhutan which was guided by Toby Sonam with To Bhutan guide services. Toby worked with the Women's Quest founder, Colleen Cannon, to provide us with a wide variety of opportunities ranging from the physical, (hiking, biking and rafting), to the spiritual including various Buddhist temples, monasteries, festivals and a nunnery. Toby and his tour companions were physically in great shape and were knowledgeable about the area and its history as wel as the history of Budchism. The transportation, food and lodging arranged by Toby was great and included a variety of settings ranging from a local farmhouse to a luxury resort. Toby and his staff were extremely attentive to the group's needs even including us with traditional festival formal wear. I not only recommend a visit to Bhutan for a once in a lifetime experience but 1 also can't
praise enough the benefit of working with To Bhutan.

we were mostly interested in spiritual Bhutan and our guide did everything he could to take us to the most interesting places, for us to meet monks, and have blessing ceremonies organized for us.
The team was very flexible and always providing options on days when we felt like not following the original plan.
The team delivered the experience that was on paper but also many smaller attentions and experiences that made this trip very special.

We travelled with Sonam's company, guided by Tshewang and driven by Jigdrel. Always with a smile, making sure we had everything we needed... in the end we all ended up singing together along the way. A professional and friendly team. A big hug.
