Carbon Neutral Bhutan stands in solidarity with the LGBTIQ+ community in Bhutan and supports the repeal of Sections 213 & 214 in the Penal Code that discriminate against and fail to protect marginalised members of the community. Whilst Bhutan is not a homophobic country, these archaic Sections are antithetical to Section 15 under Article 7 of the Constitution of Bhutan that states: "All persons are equal before the law and are entitled to equal and effective protection of the law and shall not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, s*x, language, religion, politics or other status”.

Our tours are 100% LGBTIQ+ friendly with a strict anti-discrimination policy. We call for the law to reflect the happiness and well-being of all members of the Bhutanese community and visitors alike.

2019 Telegraph Travel Awards!

Barely a month after becoming the Lonely Planet’s number one travel destination in 2020, the Kingdom of Bhutan is again honored with the fourth rank in the 2019 Telegraph Travel Awards.
Thank you Telegraph Travel Awards! Congratulations The Kingdom of Bhutan!

“…..The greatest country on Earth? According to the tens of thousands of readers who voted in the 2019 Telegraph Travel Awards, it’s a reassuringly familiar place….
But perhaps the biggest surprise comes in the shape of Bhutan. You voted it the fourth-best destination on the planet – well ahead of its Asian neighbors such as India (15th), Myanmar (16th) and Nepal (22nd).”
