Completion of Nuns’ (Gelongma) Ordination:

The Global Peace Prayer Festival concluded with the successful Bhikkhuni (Gelongma) Ordination of 265 Buddhist nuns from 14 countries, including Bhutan at the Bhutan Nuns Foundation in Tshalumaphey, Thimphu.

As the final act of the ordination, the newly ordained nuns undertook an Alms Round through the city, where thousands of people gathered to offer various kinds and money with deep devotion.

As alms mendicants, monks and nuns rely on such offerings for their sustenance, and giving alms is considered a powerful act of generosity that allows the public to share in the merit of those who practise the Dharma.

This historic event marks the second Mahayana Buddhist nuns’ ordination organised by BNF, further strengthening the bhikkhuni lineage and advancing the role of women in Buddhism.🙏🙏🙏
