His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, visited ADGM, the international financial centre of the UAE capital – Abu Dhabi. The delegation was hosted by His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of ADGM, together with members of the ADGM senior leadership team.

This visit by His Majesty follows the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in April 2025 between the GMC Authority (GMCA) and the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of ADGM, to establish a framework for cooperation between the two authorities in relation to financial services and innovation.

During the visit, His Majesty and His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi discussed how GMC can serve as a platform and gateway to support ADGM firms’ expansion into GMC and the South Asia region – home to almost two billion people. Likewise, ADGM can support GMC firms’ global growth ambitions in Abu Dhabi, the UAE, and the wider MENA region. Both GMC and ADGM utilise English Common Law frameworks and global best practices, and support technologically innovative businesses, which provides even greater support to enterprises seeking to establish a presence in both jurisdictions.

HB Lim, Managing Director of the GMC Authority, said: “GMC and ADGM are forward-looking jurisdictions committed to driving the growth of financial services across traditional finance, FinTech and digital assets. This visit by the GMC delegation to ADGM marks an important first step in establishing links between the two jurisdictions. We look forward to working closely with ADGM to support the vibrant growth of businesses in each other’s jurisdictions.”

Emmanuel Givanakis, CEO of the FSRA of ADGM, said: “ADGM is pleased to establish a regulatory relationship with GMC to facilitate cooperation and collaboration. Our partnership provides a strong foundation to develop opportunities that may support the expansion of GMC firms from the South Asian region into Abu Dhabi and the wider MENA region. Similarly, it has the potential to create future opportunities for ADGM firms to expand into South Asia.”

Gelephu Mindfulness City. Joined by our diverse teamGMC – with members from Bhutan, Australia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand – the Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority (GMCA) recently held its Development Committee meeting in Gelephu.

It was an opportunity for GMCA CEO Mr Liew Mun Leong, Governor Dasho Dr Lotay Tshering, project managers and team members to discuss and review plans. Site visits within Phase 1 were also carried out by to assess ongoing developments.

People of Bhutan offer our heartfelt gratitude to His Majesty The King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Majesty The Queen Suthida of the Kingdom of Thailand for the most memorable Royal State visit to the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Their Majesties' presence for the last four days has brought endless joy and happiness to the people of Bhutan. We look forward to Their Majesties' visit again as we bid farewell on Their Majesties' journey back to the beautiful Kingdom of Thailand with our hearts filled with wonderful memories.

We would also like to thank the people of Thailand and Bhutan who were involved and have tirelessly worked around the clock in making this Royal visit a very successful and memorable one.

His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen braved the cold and humbly stood till the Royal airplane was safely airborne. A display of unwavering respect from one King to another King.

27 April 2025: Their Majesties The Druk Gyalpo and Gyaltsuen hosted Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand at the Lingkana Palace today.

Traditional games of archery, khuru, and soksoma were organised at Lingkana Palace, and an exhibition featuring Bhutanese crafts, artwork, and locally made products was set up for Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand to experience Bhutanese culture and craftsmanship.

In the afternoon, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand visited Kaja Throm, where they were received by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, and Prince Ugyen Jigme Wangchuck. De-suups from the various De-suung Skilling Programme courses showcased their work, and presented dance performances at the event.

Their Majesties also toured the Kaja Throm market, viewing local produce and handmade products from farmers and artisans.

Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand are in Bhutan on a 4-day State Visit on the invitation of His Majesty The King.

Before departing for Autsho Namdroling Densa in Lhuentse, His Holiness 🙏🏻the Je Khen Rinpoche 💫☀️granted an audience to the second batch of PhD candidates. As they presented their theses, His Holiness 🙏🏻bestowed heartfelt prayers for the flourishing of the Dharma and the benefit of all sentient beings. Chabje Je Khen Rinpoche also imparted brief teachings on Mahamudra, the essence of Vajrayana, guiding the doctoral candidates on their path to becoming not only accomplished scholars but also great saints.
