A Tshechu festival is an annual religious celebration in Bhutan honoring Guru Rinpoche, the saint credited with bringing Buddhism to the country. The word "Tshechu" means "tenth day" in Dzongkha, referencing the religious calendar, and the festival involves masked dances, music, and community gatherings. His Majesty Druk Gyalpo Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the Third Druk Gyalpo of Bhutan, was born on 2nd May 1928 at the Thruepang Palace in Trongsa.

We remember His Majesty as a great monarch, whose vision and guidance led Bhutan to embark on its journey of modernization and progress. 2nd May is celebrated as Teacher’s Day in tribute to His Majesty and in recognition of the important role of teachers in our society.

This year’s Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition being held in Mongar and Gyalpozhing, is dedicated to His Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

We join the nation in offering our tribute and prayers in memory of His Majesty.
