A uniform daily package rate for all visitors, Tourism Policy of Bhutan 2021

Every tourist visiting Bhutan will be required to pay a uniform daily package rate within the next five years, regardless of nationality. The Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) plans to fast track this measure to achieve the High Value Low Volume policy. As per the policy statement, the government will be working towards a single tourism system by 2030.

26 May 2020: His Majesty The King offered prayers and Karmi Tongchoe at the conclusion of the Gongdue Khangsha Kurim. The prayer ceremony was held at the Tango Dorden Tash*thang Buddhist University for all the people of the world who lost their lives due to COVID-19. The concluding ceremony coincided with the 49th day since the passing of His Holiness Je Thrizur Tenzin Doendrup, the 68th Je Khenpo. The Kurim, and the prayers for late Je Thrizur are being presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo. The Prime Minister and senior government officials also offered prayers and lit butterlamps at the ceremony.
