The Guru Rinpoche Statue at Takila Guru Rinpoche Statue stands majestically atop a hill overlooking Trongsa valley, symbolizing the spiritual presence of Guru Padmasambhava in Bhutan. Revered as the “Second Buddha,” Guru Rinpoche is credited with bringing Ta***ic Buddhism to Bhutan in the 8th century.
Rising approximately 154 feet (47 meters), this is one of the largest statues of Guru Rinpoche in the world. The sacred site of Takila is believed to be blessed by the Guru himself, making it a place of deep spiritual significance and pilgrimage.
The statue embodies protection, wisdom, and compassion, overlooking the central region of Bhutan as a guardian of peace and harmony. Today, it serves not only as a religious monument but also as a symbol of Bhutan’s enduring devotion to the teachings of Guru Rinpoche.
