Today, on Zhabdrung Kuchoe, we solemnly honor the passing of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal (1594–1651)—the visionary who unified Bhutan.

As we light butter lamps and offer our heartfelt prayers, let us reflect on his timeless teachings and renew our commitment to the values he embodied: unity, devotion, and service to the nation.

May his legacy continue to guide us all.

The 10th annual Rhododendron Festival at the Royal Botanical Park in Lampelri began today and will continue tomorrow, with an extended celebration scheduled for the 22nd and 23rd of April.

The festival drew a vibrant crowd, including over a hundred foreign visitors.

This year’s festival features Rhododendron-themed drinks, a spread of local cuisine, and stalls showcasing traditional textiles. Visitors can also enjoy a photo booth and art exhibitions by the students of My Gakidh Village School.

Some also enjoy easy hikes with the opportunity to see Rhododendron flowers in the wild.

The festival continues to grow as a celebration of biodiversity, community, and cultural expression.
