🌿 Day 1 of the Regenerative Bhutan Forum 2025 set the stage for reimagining tourism as a force for renewal.

The Forum, held at Dungkar Dzong opened with Mr. Damcho Rinzin, Director of the Department of Tourism, emphasizing collaboration across nations, industries, and people to shape tourism that restores nature, uplifts communities, and enhances visitor experience.

The Chief Guest, Dasho Tashi Wangmo, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, reflected on Bhutan’s tourism journey since 1974 and how the 10-Year Bhutan Integrated Tourism Masterplan aligns with the 21st Century Economic Roadmap to place inclusive, sustainable, and regenerative tourism at the core.

The Bhutan Green Hotel Standard was also launched during the forum, which marks a milestone in encouraging eco-friendly, energy-efficient, and community-based practices.

In the plenary session, Ms. Po***ck and Mr. Damcho discussed global and national perspectives on regenerative tourism, with Bhutan’s experience showing the importance of balancing high-value tourism with community well-being.

In the afternoon, panels explored carbon calculation, green tourism standards, greener supply chains, and green branding and marketing. Together, the sessions connected global thought leadership with Bhutan’s vision while preparing stakeholders with practical strategies to embed regenerative practices in policy, operations, and branding.

The forum was attended by over 24 international and 100 national participants.

Tomorrow, participants will join five parallel sessions on Nature and Culture Conservation, Carbon Calculation, Green Tourism Standards, Greener Supply Chains, and Green Branding and Marketing for interactive regional knowledge-sharing.
