A wonderful poem by our guest Dr. Adam during his travel to Bhutan.

In Bhutan, time walks barefoot.

It does not hurry—why would it?

Even the wind has the manners of a monk,

and silence is a conversation

that no one interrupts.

From the mountains flows a balance

you understand better than many a philosopher.

Not through books—

but through a step, a breath,

through a path that knows where it goes,

though it never asks.

You are a Buddhist with a storyteller’s soul,

for whom laughter and meditation

share the same breath.

You know that mindfulness

is not sitting quietly in silence,

but a way of looking at the world:

at a child’s face, a pot of rice,

the shadow of your own hand in morning light.

In your kitchen, karma smells of coriander,

and compassion—of ginger.

You cook as if every dish were a prayer

that needs no words.

Flavor is a form of gratitude,

and a spoon—a tool of peace.

You speak in a way

that even stones listen without hurry.

In your voice one can see mountains

that have nothing to prove.

Photography is another meditation:

a world that does not flee,

because it has already been noticed.

Karma, the Bhutanese guide,

always walks first—

not out of pride, but responsibility.

His face is burned by sun and wind,

his gaze as hard as granite,

his heart gentle as a prayer.

He speaks little—

each word weighs like a stone,

each gesture carries the meaning of a mantra.

He is stern and noble,

like the mountains that taught him silence.

He knows the name of every wind

and understands that the path is not for arriving,

but for understanding.
