Don’t just take our word for it, hear it from the visitors. Every traveller’s experience adds to the story of this beautiful country. For one recent guest, visiting Bhutan was the fulfilment of a long-held dream, and her time here went beyond all expectations. She warmly invites others to discover Bhutan’s unique beauty for themselves.

In Bhutan, travel isn’t rushed. It’s a journey through living culture, protected landscapes, and communities that still follow age-old traditions. From Dzongs that have stood for centuries to quiet mountain paths where prayer flags move with the wind, each step offers something meaningful to take in.

Every August, the villages of Genekha in Thimphu and Ura in Bumthang hold the Matsutake Mushroom Festival to mark the mushroom season. The event brings together locals and visitors to learn about mushroom collection, try local dishes, and understand how the mushroom contributes to income for nearby communities.

The Genekha Matsutake Festival takes place on 15–16 August, and the Ura Matsutake Festival on 23–24 August. Both festivals offer a chance to spend time in rural Bhutan, meet local people, and take part in an activity that connects farming, food, and culture.

Bhutan’s forests and mountains are home to a remarkable range of wildlife, from takins roaming in the wild to langurs calling from treetops and and spot rare birds without needing to go far. Conservation is not just a policy here, it’s a way of life. National parks and wilderness areas are protected, and tourism is designed to support, not disrupt, natural ecosystems. Visitors experience nature as it truly is, thriving, respected, and central to everyday life.
