Paro Annual Festival

It’s a sacred Buddhist festival held in the courtyard of the famous Rinpung Dzong. Locals and visitors gather to receive blessings, celebrate culture, and watch religious performances.

Highlights:

Cham dances (mask dances): Performed by monks and laymen, these dances tell spiritual stories and are believed to bring good luck.
Thangka unveiling: A giant sacred scroll called a Thongdrel is displayed on the final day. Seeing it is said to cleanse sins.
Traditional dress: People wear beautiful gho and kira, making the festival very colorful.
Community gathering: Families come together for picnics, socializing, and celebration.
