Gasa dzongkhag is famous for its hot springs (tshachhu) known for their healing powers.
Located about four hours drive up hill from punakha, beside the Mo chhu, Gasa tshachhu is believed to cure rheumatism, arthritis, ulcers, indigestion, skin diseases, even tuberculosis, broken joints and other illnesses.

The healing water attracts more than 7,000 visitors every year, most visit the hot spring in winter to seek the curative powers. Experts say that the tshachhu is rich in sodium, potassium, calcium chloride and several other minerals

Gasa tshachhu (Gasa Hot Spring) has four main ponds of about three feet deep, of concrete and layered by wooden bath all roofed, and each meant for different ailments. One pond can hold about 12 people each. There is also a pond to wash up before dipping. Regular visitors say that the Gasa tshachhu is also good for curing broken joints and other ailments.

Tshechu (“tenth day”) is the Bhutanese festivals held every year in various temples monasteries and dzongs across the country. The Tshechu is mainly a religious event celebrated on tenth day of a month of lunar calendar corresponding to the birthday of Guru Rinpoche (Guru Padmasambhava). During Tshechu people of all walks gather together and spent whole day watching mask dances. On this day you will see people wearing beautiful dresses and eating together with family and friends. Observing Tshechu means experiencing true tradition and culture of Bhutan.
