I had a wonderful time visiting this amazing place , the largest monastery in far east, Pemagatshel.
Yongla Riwo Pelbar Dargeychoeling Gonpa is the one of the most well known monasteries under Pemagatshel Dzongkhag in the eastern Bhutan widely known as Yongla Gonpa.🙏🙏🙏
It is believed to have been built by second Yongla Lam, Dorji Jamtsho in 1736. The founder of the monastery, Kheydrup Jigme Kuendel was instructed to identify a place resembling Tsari in Tibet that looked like ritual dagger (Phurpa) by his Master Rigzin Jigme Lingpa (1729 - 1798) , a great Tertoen (Treasure Revealer) and a Nyingma Master.
Jigme Kuendel travelled from Tibet through Bumthang looking for the distined place until he reached the present day Yongla accompanied by Khandro Dechen Gyalmo. When he asked Khandro if this was the place prophesied by his master, the Khandro said , 'Yong Yong', meaning 'Yes Yes'. Thereafter, the place came to be known as Yongla.
The great Yogi Master , Lam Sonam Zangpo in 1960s restored the famous Yongla Phurpai Drubchen after the some lost of its significance during the successive Lams. In 1970 following the visit of His Holiness Dudjom Rimpoche gave the present name , Pemagatshel, meaning "The Blissful Land of Lotus ".
Unfortunately, the monastery was severely dameged by the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that struck the entire country on 21st September 2009. His Majesty visited the Gonpa and announced to restored to its glory. 🙏🙏🙏

The World's Examplary King!
His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo towers over world leaders in terms of his wise approach to development. As a Buddhist King , he followed the Buddhist Philosophy of middle path to development. He emphasised early on his reign that while economic development was important for Bhutan, it must not come at the expense of the country's socio-cultural values and the environment.
In his wisdom , he knew that man could not live by bread alone . In a world consumed by mad rush for material riches, His Majesty had the courage to think differently.
It's fourth Druk Gyalpo's vision of middle path to development that gave birth to the Philosophy of Gross National Happiness (GNH). GNH underlines a balance between physical , environmental, spiritual, cultural and psychological wellbeing. While it does not nagate economic development, it recognises that material wellbeing is not holistic. This profound Philosophy is now dawning upon a world obsessed with material success. There is now an increasing consensus among world's thought leaders that GNH could be an alternate development paradigm, a more holistic one. Thus a tribute to the Great Fourth.
His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo has been acknowledged as a global conservation Champion. He has been recognised with several awards.
The fourth King can be a global example ilof non-attachment and humility. He tirelessly worked hard for the wellbeing of the people and did not wish even a descent palace for himself. To this day he lives in a simple log house . He must be the only king in the world without a Palace . He lives an ordinary life without the trapping of royalty and power.
Above all , His Majesty the fourth king will be remembered for his extra ordinary act of relinquishing power when he was at the height of his popularity.
In a world known for leaders who cling on to power even at the cost of their lives, He commended that the Bhutanese people should learn to look after their own welfare and shap their own destiny at most peaceful of times. This act of non-attachment and sacrifice makes His Majesty the King a leader deserving of emulation globally.
