The 5th Royal Highland Festival (RHF) will be held in Laya from 23rd to 24th October 2022.

Highland Communities from 10 dzongkhags (districts) of Bhutan will take part in the 5th Royal Highland Festival at Laya to showcase their unique culture and tradition.

The famous 25 Kilometer cross-country Laya Run from Ponjothang (Gasa) to Langothang (festival ground, Laya), one of the most sought-after events of the festival will be held on 23rd October 2022.

Participants can opt to trek through stunning mountain trails or be dropped on location by helicopter.

Please be informed that all expenditures have to be borne by the concerned individual/party including food and accommodation throughout the festival. This also applies to all the runners participating in Laya Run.

However, the Dzongkhag administration will help facilitate the booking/reservation of farm stays/accommodation and other logistic requirements after registration.

We look forward to welcoming you all to Laya and to celebrate the 5th Royal Highland Festival.

Snowman Race

Sangay from the Royal Bhutan Army is the first to reach Chamkhar, Bumthang today from Julay tsho on the final day of the . The five-day snowman race ends today .

He took 4hrs, 50mins and 48secs.

He is followed by Gawa Zangpo at 4hrs, 56mins and 5secs. Sangay Wangchuk came third with 4hrs, 57mins and 37secs.

It usually takes two days from Julay Tsho to Chamkhar.

Hundreds of residents gathered to receive the runners.
