As one of our Legacy Projects, The Phiri Tourism Consortium t/a Bona Botswana Tourism and Sparkle Arts has partnered with the Khama III Memorial Museum in Serowe to execute the Annual Ga Mmabesi a Kgama Cultural Festival 2017.

This event is hosted in order to Promote, Preserve and Celebrate the Culture of Ba Ga Mmangwato in Serowe.

Serowe has been called "Ga-MmaBesi-a-Kgama" from time immemorial. The name refers to the fact that Serowe was the home of the wife of the King of Bangwato, Khama The Great. As is Setswana tradition, a mother is usually called by the name of her first born, hence "Mma-Besi".
