"Chaleco" Lopez imposes his rhythm to win the second stage in the Rally of Qatar

Now this has made our day - the chuck norris of the motorcycle world pulls through!!!

The Chilean's KTM Factory Bike started fifth, but settled to the demanding route in the Sahara and moved up time and position to win the day and took minutes off the leader of the classification, Spanish Marc Coma.

El chileno de KTM Factory largó quinto, pero se acomodó bien a la exigente ruta en el Sahara y remontó tiempo y posiciones para abrochar la jornada y descontarle minutos al líder de la clasificación, el español Marc Coma.

Marc Coma wins stage 1 of SeaLine Dakar Rally 2013!!!!

I am very happy. It has been a very long and complicated, with many navigation stage with almost five-hour special. When there are so many navigation, it is difficult to find the rhythm and more on a stony ground, with lot of white stone that makes it difficult to see the track. But I have had very good feelings. We have started with the first part of sand parallel to the sea, very beautiful, but then already we found the rocky ground and a final part of dunes. Tomorrow another very long and difficult stage in which we open track, we have to be very concentrated in navigation and try to avoid any errors.

One of the most important things you can do when riding an adventure bike in Africa (apart from not falling off!!) is make sure you stay hydrated...

You can try using a bottle, but that's not so easy when your head is wrapped in a helmet!

The solution? A hydration pack, essentially a backpack with a bladder that carries water. Our brand of choice over many many years of use - Camelbak!

Here are 2 essential tips when using a hydration pack.

1. Only use Ice and water. Rehydration drinks, energy drinks and soda's all have sugars that cause bacteria to grow inside the bladder, and perhaps more importantly in the short term, you don't want a sweet drink turning warm after 3 hours of riding - you only make that mistake once!! (we're talking from experience here)

2. Make sure you get a pack with additional compartments like the one in the image so that you can keep all your important documents, camera and other devices safe and close at hand.

So bring your own Hydration Pack when you come on tour with us because you wont enjoy sharing our bite valves!

We thought we would share two simple, yet essential tips for enjoying the dirt roads of Africa!

1. Its important to stay relaxed and loose on the bike so that you stay fluid, and keep that relaxed “connection” with your bike.

2.Standing on your footpegs using the balls of your feet and gripping the tank lightly with your knees is essential. Your weight becomes lowered on the bike and it allows you to control it by focusing your weight distribution through the pegs when cornering or avoiding any obstacles.

Keep these two tips in mind and practice them before you tour, and we guarantee a more memorable ride!
