Celebrating World Female Ranger Day with Flo, from head female guide to owning her own company. .

"I have been a Guide for almost 21 years.
I grew up in an area where wild animals would roam around and as a child in that kind of environment i learnt how to navigate around them. I developed the love for nature at an early stage but i didn't know which field to go into until i enrolled with BWTI, where i realised my passion for wildlife and turning it into a career..
Growing up in my home.village Gumare we used to go to our farms and would come across wild animals heading into our farming area. I had experienced wildlife and nature firsthand and that's what motivated me to pursue guiding despite the discouragement.

I was raised by a very strong and courageous mother who taught me how to survive in any situation and any challenges in Life. My mother was a farmer who was well respected in our village because of her farming skills even though she was not educated, even men would come to her for advice on farming,
So while pursuing my career i already knew that i had to work hard so that i can give back to my family despite the challenges i may encounter. I had a passion for sharing nature with the whole world although i was discouraged by men that the tour guide profession was not for women i never allowed that to set me back.
So through training perception shifted, with the knowledge and the passion to share nature with guests, guests reacted positively to my guiding skills remember woman are so gentle and we read situation before hand that helped me to rub shoulders with our male counter part.

Zanazi Safari has been registered in 2012,,
I have been (fully) running this mobile for 7 months now,,with the experience that i have accumulated over the years this is the continuation of what i have been doing.
As the former Head guide of Chobe Game Lodge all the responsibility that was entrusted to me back then is fully working for me at Zanazi Mobile safari.
Providing personalized services to the guests,,arming at employing more women because of their vulnerability as members of the community.
A girl child,,,we are aiming at visiting schools to talk with a girl child and make them realise they can reach their dreams".

and we are excited to shine light on Thamo Telele, who have been instrumental in making sure these gentle giants have a safe sanctuary.

Thamo Telele Private Reserve and Natural Selection support the Giraffe Conservation Foundation and their local research project, assessing the distribution and sub species of the giraffe in Botswana. A portion of each guest's stay helps fund this research. To date, the team has collected over 120 DNA samples from 29 sites around Botswana.

Guests at Thamo Telele can enjoy a sundowner with the TT tower of giraffe and learn more from the giraffe specialist guides and zoologists. Guests can also learn about the different species of giraffe, their behavior, or just sip a cool drink and enjoy the scenery. Those who are more adventurous can jump in the saddle and take a guided horse ride with the giraffe and other game to get up close to these gentle giants.

Thank you Thamo Telele for celebrating these gentle giants everyday. Happy Giraffe Day !!!!

Happy World Environment Day !! This year's theme ' Tackling Plastic Pollution' seeks to raise awareness about the damage plastic causes to our ecosystem including both human and animal life.

Recycling has now become a part of our lives and plastic has become one of the most used recycling materials in making environmentally friendly products like jewelry, furniture and even clothes. Let us continue to protect our planet for us and our future generations.

Rati and Tshepi are currently exploring the amazing Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, and their first stop was Iganyana Tented Camp where they spent two nights in this beautiful camp.

Iganyana is situated on a small private concession bordering Hwange National Park and offers three different accommodation styles suitable for families, groups and private/intimate travel. The duo had an amazing experience, enjoying the subtle comforts of the rooms, the friendly and energetic staff, the amazing food and of course the different landscape of the park and wildlife within the concession.

A great experience indeed and a huge thank you to the Iganyana Tented CampTeam and Willem at Forever African Safaris for making this trip special.
