March is hands-down my favorite month forice fishing walleye. 🎣 The fish are active, the days are longer, and the ice is still solid.

We headed out as a family the other day and managed to bring home a few meals of those golden Alberta.

Dad took the "Big Fish" honors this time around with a thick 53.5cm (21") beauty! 🏆

Nothing beats making memories (and filling the freezer) with the family.

These guys have since long dropped their antlers, but I'll be out looking for them soon.

Newfoundland Eiders!!!

All I can say it's been one heck of a trip to Newfoundland!

We saw some pretty interesting scenery here in Newfoundland. Newfoundland was one of only two Canadian Provinces that I have never visited. To be completely honest it was nothing like I expected. It is incredibly beautiful here, with the ocean, mountains, trees, islands and rocky coastlines. Even if you aren't a hunter, Newfoundland is somewhere everyone should visit at least once. I know that I'll be back one day!

We hunted with Chris Farrell of Margaree Outfitters. Chris came highly recommended to us from numerous people. And now after spending the past four days at his place I see why. Chris runs one of the best operations out there. I am sure it is without a doubt the best outfit in Newfoundland or that matter Atlantic Canada.

On this trip I was fortunate enough to harvest the Dressari's Common Eider(aka American Eider subspecies) that I came for. This is bird #34 of 41 that I need to complete the North American 41 Waterfowl Slam. Which was also the last Sea Duck that I needed. That leaves me 7 birds left to go. I have my fingers crossed that I can wrap it up before 2026 comes to an end.

I was also lucky enough to harvest a few Borealis Eider's(another Common Eider subspecies). This is a bonus bird for most folks. It isn't actually on the list for the North American 41. There are a few of these bonus birds that don't make the list of 41 that I already have, and a few more that I hope to eventually hunt and harvest also.

Chris & Olivia, I can't thank you enough for your generous hospitality. Olivia I'm sure I gained 10 lbs this week from all your good cooking. I'm pretty sure I won't need to eat for a few days. Chris thank for you making sure your hunters feel welcome and at home, and without a doubt your dedication of getting your hunters they birds they want. You run a tight ship and we noticed a lot of little things that most folks probably don't. You are no doubt ranked a first class outfitter and sportsmen. Thanks again for EVERYTHING and helping make dreams come true.

If anyone is interested in shooting Common Eiders(Dressari's & Borealis) in Newfoundland with Margaree Outfitters, please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have.

Also a great big thanks out to my friends Kevin, Mark, & Drake for sharing this epic adventure with me. Having friends with the same desire to chase these birds all over the continent with me is truly a special thing.

Lastly I can't thank my family enough for allowing me to go off to these crazy places to chase my dream. Everything from taking care of things at home, and most importantly the dogs, I love you all.

Now it's time to board this plane and head home to Alberta. It's going to be a quick 28 hour turn and burn before I head to Mexico with the family.

Cheers everyone!

Taking the red eye flight to Newfoundland for another waterfowl adventure with the hopes of checking another one off the list. Also got my fingers crossed for a bonus bird. 🤞

A central Alberta wolf for all of you. As the moose population diminishes in the foothills, the wolves are following the moose east into the farmland where the moose are flourishing.

Another great day spent in the field with friends.

I've repeatedly predicted that this would be the last waterfowl hunt of the year locally, but the opportunities keep presenting themselves.

Today, we were hunting big Honkers. The birds were late coming in, but once the action started, we quickly reached our limit.

The only way the experience could have been better is if I had a few more shooters join us.

Once again was a memorable hunt that I won't soon forget. Thank you for joining me, gentlemen!

Aurora Borealis Time-Lapse: First Attempt!

I know everyone is still sharing photos from last night, and I certainly got my share of great stills. For a new challenge, I decided to try my hand at an Aurora time-lapse video.

Considering it was my first go, I'm really happy with the result! My only regret is that I didn't start rolling sooner. The vibrant red and pink hues had already faded by the time I set up at 10:30pm.

Let me know what you think, or if you have any suggestions on how to improve.

Honoring Sacrifice and Cherishing Freedom.

It’s been several years since I've managed to get a Remembrance Day bird hunt in here in Alberta. Between early freeze-ups, hunting abroad, and focusing on big game like moose, elk, and deer, this tradition has taken a backseat—until today.

This November 11th, I was able to get back to sharing the blind with friends for an epic duck hunt.

Being Remembrance Day, I first want to sincerely thank all those who have served and sacrificed their lives. Your service is what allows us the freedom to make memories like this, surrounded by friends and family. It’s a gift we never take for granted.

And to the crew who shared the blind with me today: thank you for the laughs, the camaraderie, and the great shooting. Having friends like you makes days like this truly special.

This is definitely one for the books and one we won't forget.
