HAPPY 87th BIRTHDAY to Algonquin Park legend and our active Brent Store manager Jake Pigeon!!!

If you’ve visited the Algonquin Outfitters store at Brent on Cedar Lake in Algonquin Park in the last 47 years, you’ve likely run into Jake Pigeon. Jake has managed the Brent Store since almost then and is turning 87 years young today!

Few people in the business know more about Algonquin Park or are as proud to inform its visitors about canoe routes, camping and lake destinations based on his lifetime of experience. Jake and his family lived full-time at Cache Lake until he was 12 years old, and he has spent every summer since in the park.
He was hired by Rich’s dad and AO co-founder Bill Swift Sr. to manage the Brent store in 1980 due to his deep knowledge, history, and experience of growing up and tripping to almost every lake in the park!

On behalf of the Swift & AO family, our customers, Algonquin Park friends and business partners along the way, we wish our great friend and mentor the happiest of milestones today!

Read more about Jake’s history and story.
