The twilight ride home after a private charter dinner run to downtown Halifax is the best part of the evening on the water. As the days get shorter, the rides will get starrier, but the warm ocean temps and on-board blankets will keep you warm and snug. We’re booked up between now and September 2nd, but keep your eye here to be first to know when we open up for new dinner charters.

Great little titbit on ft. McNabs history.

This day in History: On August 16, 1914, Fort McNab made history as the only Halifax defence fortification to fire “in anger” in over 200 years.

That summer's day, Stuart Jenks, the Deputy Attorney General of Nova Scotia, was returning to Halifax in his boat. He ignored clearance procedures and even a blank warning shot from Fort McNab. He finally stopped when a 100 lb. shell splashed just 25 yards in front of his boat.

At the time, Fort McNab served as Halifax Harbour’s Examination Fort, controlling wartime traffic with searchlights, inspections, and heavy guns. After several such incidents, a smaller 6-pounder gun was installed in 1915 to avoid more dangerous close calls.

Bummer. Wharf is still under repairs. Was supposed to wrap up by today, but . have any idea when it will be finished?
