A special fish doesn't have to be the biggest fish, it can be special for so many different reasons.
The people you share it with, and the location can make it special.
Suick prostaff member Brent Bochek caught this beauty tiger musky on a Suick Wobble last season in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, while fishing with good friends John Anderson, Lisa Goodier and Noa Oliveira-Hill. What you don't see in this picture is, a tour boat full of passengers had been passing by when Brent set the hook.
A gorgeous fish, good friends, and an audience in a unique place has all the makings of a special fish.

Musky season is rapidly approaching and here are a few tips to set you up for success opening day!!!

1- If you can’t get on the water before opening day, watch the weather for the days leading up to opener to see what the trends are and make a plan accordingly.

2- Check your tackle!! There is nothing worse than hitting your first spot and realizing that your hooks aren’t sharp or even worse you left the bait you want at home. Start setting up your tackle box with the lures you want and think you’ll need based on the weather in your area.

3- Sharpen hooks!!! Make sure the baits you might be using have hooks that are sticky sharp. Also have some extra hooks already sharpened encase you have to cut some.

4- Terminal tackle!! Check your line, leaders and split rings! Tie on some new leaders and make sure you have some new extra snaps and leaders in the boat. Check the split rings on your lures and replace any that are stretched or rusted and make sure they are the right size.

5- Check your boat and trailer! Make sure everything is greased, fluids are topped up, tires are in good condition, batteries are charged and most of all everything is working.

6- If you can get on the water and check water temps, w**d growth, water levels and see if you can find some bait balls.

Most importantly don’t stress out too much!! Go have some fun, cover water and make notes! Opening day is the start of this year’s chapter in your musky hunting adventure!!! Let’s make it a year to remember!!
