Many organizations spend hours teaching new employees policies, procedures, and systems. But what if onboarding also taught them how to communicate, collaborate, solve problems, and build strong workplace relationships?

The habits employees develop in their first few weeks often shape the culture of your organization for years to come.

Leadership isn't a skill reserved for managers. It's a mindset that every employee can develop from day one.

That's why our online Leadership Fundamentals course is designed to be more than training—it's an investment in your people, your culture, and your future leaders.

When you onboard for leadership, you don't just create better employees. You create stronger teams.

What's one leadership skill you wish every new employee learned in their first week? Share it in the comments.

👋 Hi, if you're new here — I'm Lana Bavle, founder of LTB Leadership.

Here's the short version of how I got here: I spent 15 years in municipal government before stepping away in 2020 to chase a belief I couldn't shake — our success in life is directly related to the relationships we build. Not our titles. Not our individual wins. Our relationships.

That belief became a company, a book, and honestly a bit of a mission.

A few things to know about me and what I do:

📖 I wrote a book called Stop Being a Super Chicken. (Yes, really.) A "super chicken" is the person who tries to win by outperforming everyone around them and quietly wears down the whole team in the process. My work is about the opposite: building teams where people rise together.

💻 I created an online Leadership Fundamentals program so this work isn't locked behind a boardroom door. It's a set of interactive workshops covering the things that actually make teams thrive — positivity, resilience, psychological safety, productivity, and self-care — and your organization can take the whole program or just the parts you need.

🎓 I hold a Master of Arts in Leadership and an Executive Coaching Certificate from Royal Roads University, and I'm a certified SDI facilitator. But the letters matter less than the outcome — people communicating better, trusting more, and actually wanting to show up.

🏡 I run all of this from a tiny home office on Vancouver Island, working with individuals, teams, and municipalities to strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and lead with more compassion.

If you're here to become a stronger, more human kind of leader — you're in the right place. Stick around.

Let's better, together. 💛

Technical expertise is often what earns someone a promotion.
They're the top performer. The subject matter expert. The person everyone turns to for answers.

Then one day, they're expected to lead. And that's where many talented professionals discover that leadership requires an entirely different skill set.

Leading people means building trust, navigating conflict, communicating clearly, fostering accountability, and creating an environment where others can succeed.

The good news? Leadership isn't something you're born with—it's something you learn.

Leadership Fundamentals is an online, self-paced course designed to help emerging and experienced leaders develop the practical skills needed to lead with confidence. From relationship intelligence and team building to resilience, productivity, and psychological safety, participants gain tools they can apply immediately.

Because promoting someone into leadership is only the first step. Equipping them to succeed is what makes the difference.

The organizations with the strongest cultures teach it. On Day One. Explicitly.

They tell new hires:
• Here's how we handle disagreement.
• Here's how we handle mistakes.
• Here's how we ask for help.
• Here's how we give feedback.
• Here's how we celebrate wins.

These are behaviours you name, model, and repeat until they become the water everyone swims in.

That's what Leadership Fundamentals teaches. If it sounds like the foundation your onboarding is missing, I'd love to talk. ---> [email protected]
