At the time of the Frank Slide, approximately 600 people lived in the town of Frank.

In the background, you can see the town with Turtle Mountain prior to the slide. The town established in 1900 as the Canadian-American Coal and Coke Company opened the Frank Mine at the base of Turtle Mountain.

Check back next week as we mark 123 years since the Frank Slide fell.
