Last week, I had the privilege of being invited by Forbes Travel Guide to attend their exclusive engagement dinner in Mexico City, hosted at Las Alcobas a Luxury Collection Hotel in the upscale neighbourhood, Polanco.

The evening brought together a small group of luxury travel advisors and hospitality leaders from around the world for conversations centered around where luxury travel is heading and how guest experiences are continuing to evolve.

The night began in the hotel’s stunning penthouse suite overlooking the Mexico City skyline at sunset before moving to Anatol restaurant for an exceptional culinary experience. Every aspect of the evening was thoughtfully considered, from the beautifully curated tablescape featuring orchids flown in from Holland to the remarkable menu prepared by Chef Fernando Stovell and his team.

Dishes such as wild red snapper with citrus embers, chintextle adobo, and pineapple purée reflected the same level of artistry, creativity, and attention to detail that today’s luxury travelers are increasingly seeking.

But beyond the beautiful evening itself, experiences like this are incredibly valuable because they allow me to continue building relationships within the luxury hospitality space and stay closely connected to the people shaping the guest experience at the highest level.

As a luxury travel advisor, being in these rooms matters. It allows me to strengthen relationships with hotel partners around the world, better understand where luxury travel is heading, and continue creating more personalized and elevated experiences for my clients.

If you’re planning a trip to Rome this year, there’s an important update to know before visiting the Trevi Fountain.

The city has introduced a €2 ticket system to access the basin area - the lower section where visitors can walk right up to the fountain.

During our recent trip to Rome, we experienced this firsthand while reviewing the process for our clients. Travelers purchasing tickets on site were waiting in long lines, while those with pre-purchased tickets were able to proceed directly down to the fountain.

For our clients visiting the Trevi Fountain, we arrange these tickets in advance as part of their itinerary planning. Because the tickets are not tied to a specific date or time, visitors have the flexibility to experience the fountain whenever it fits naturally into their day while exploring Rome, whether that is on their own or with a private guide.

We also monitor the days when the fountain may open later due to coin collection or maintenance and advise our clients on the best time to visit as we design their itinerary.

This is one of the many reasons firsthand travel experience matters. Being in destination allows us to understand how these systems actually operate and ensure our clients are fully prepared before they arrive.

Imagine waking up like this…

Wrapped in my robe and slippers, I slide out of bed at the St. Regis Kanai and draw back the blackout curtains to reveal mangroves meeting the Caribbean Sea.

The resort’s architecture seems to float above the natural landscape; modern, open, and surrounded by lush greenery.

Coffee is next. I make my coffee with my Nespresso machine, one of those little luxury touches I always appreciate.

My Butler from the St. Regis Signature Service has already set the table for breakfast. I have French toast, fresh fruit, and local honey, and fresh-squeezed juice from the deli on property.

Later, I head to the balcony that overlooks the mangroves and ocean. It is the kind of view that makes you slow down and just take it all in.

I finish my morning before heading out for the day with a bath in the large soaker tub, because mornings should feel this effortless ✨
