🍞✨ Worth the short drive from Brandon!

One of the best parts about exploring the small towns around Manitoba is finding those cozy local bakeries that still make everything fresh, warm, and homemade. 🥐☕

Great baking, friendly faces, and good news — they’re staying open and continuing to serve the region! ❤️

The mixers sat silent, bowls wiped clean,
When we lost more than parents.
We lost our bakers, our anchors,
The hands that shaped the morning.

The "Closed" sign hung for weeks on end,
When grief came calling like an unwelcome friend.
Mom and Dad, our bakers too,
Left dirty aprons and skies too blue.

We wondered if the dream was through,
If Minary Bakery was done like you.
We stood next to the oven, lost and unsure.
How do you bake, when your heart isn’t sure.

The room was silent, the counters were bare.
But still their notes, were hung up everywhere.
And as the dough remembers how to rise,
Now so do we, with our tear-stained eyes.

We swept the floors, we scrubbed the tins,
Lit the oven pilot, let hope begin.
So we reshaped, we kneaded pain
Into each roll, through loss and rain.

We stepped up to the plate,
we learnt their ways:
Measure with heart,
not just what the scales say.

They left us more than flour and keys,
We’ve got the early alarms and ol recipes.
The ones with Mom’s typed out script,
And Dad’s “just a pinch and a dash” on pages ripped.

The sign still reads the family name,
But now it means we rose through flame.
And when we flip the sign to Open,
It’s not just business, not just trade,
It’s a promise that what they started,
Won’t close, won’t end, won’t fade.

The shelves are full, the door swings wide.
The Minary name, still holds its pride.
We are carrying on, the future is bright.
Baking their love, into each and every bite.

Minary Homestyle still stands,
A new generation passed down,
Still sweetening every corner,
of this small prairie town.

Not the same as then,
but trying to stand strong and true.
Keeping this family bakery going,
Mom and Dad, this is all for you!

BRANDON TOURISM SELECTS FIRM TO LEAD STRATEGIC PLAN AND PLACE BRAND DEVELOPMENT

Brandon Tourism is pleased to announce that UpHouse has been selected to lead the development of a new tourism strategic plan and place brand for the city of Brandon.

Following a competitive procurement process that attracted several highly-qualified firms, Brandon Tourism has selected UpHouse, a marketing, PR and media agency headquartered in Winnipeg, MB.

Specializing in evoking the emotions that bring people to a place, you can see their creative storytelling through their work as Travel Manitoba's agency of record, leading the refreshed brand and positioning, Canada's Heart is Calling.

They've helped craft meaningful brands for places as close to Brandon as Clear Lake Country, and worked with destinations as far-reaching as Tourism Ireland through partnerships with influencers.

This project represents a significant step forward in shaping the future of tourism in Brandon. The tourism strategic plan will provide a clear roadmap to guide growth, investment, and visitor
experience development, while the place brand will define and articulate Brandon’s identity in a way that resonates with residents and visitors alike.

“We are excited to partner with UpHouse on this important initiative,” said Lanny Stewart, director of marketing and communications with Brandon Tourism. “Their understanding of
Brandon’s opportunities and their collaborative approach will help us build a strong, authentic, and competitive destination brand.”

Brandon Tourism extends its sincere appreciation to all firms who participated in the procurement process. The submissions demonstrated a high standard of professionalism, insight,
and innovation, and we recognize the significant time and effort invested by each proponent. We thank all participants for their interest in contributing to Brandon’s tourism future.

Work on the project will begin in the coming weeks and will incorporate stakeholder engagement throughout the process. For updates on the Brandon Tourism strategic plan and place brand project, make sure to follow Brandon Tourism on social media.
