🪄 The $65 Wand Story

One of the strangest and BEST things that happened on our last Universal Orlando trip…

We were lining up for Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts when a guest ahead of us was told he needed to put his wand in a locker.

Instead… he threw it in the garbage. 😳

The team member and I just stared at each other.

He pulled it back out, cleaned it up, and asked if we wanted it.

Turns out it was a $65 interactive wand from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Well… obviously we said yes.

We spent the rest of the time running around Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, trying all the spell locations and making that wand earn its keep. 😂

And now I’m heading back to Universal Orlando tomorrow…

You better believe I’m bringing that wand with me. 🪄

I cannot WAIT to use it again!

Stay tuned because we’ll be back exploring the parks, revisiting some favourites, checking out what’s new, and probably waving that $65 wand around like we actually know what we’re doing. ✨

🏃‍♂️ DUANE DID THE CASTAWAY CAY 5K! 🏝️

There are two kinds of people on a Disney Cruise…

The people who happily wake up early and run the Castaway Cay 5K…

…and then there’s me. 😂

I have signed up for the Castaway Cay 5K more times than I care to admit. And every single time, that early start came around and suddenly my bed felt like the most magical place on the ship. 🛏️✨

But this time, Duane decided he was going to do it.

While the girls and I found our loungers and swam, Duane took off running. We weren't expecting to see him again for awhile.

Then suddenly… there he was.

Sweaty. Hot. And SO proud of himself. 🥵🏃‍♂️

And he should be! He had just finished his first Castaway Cay 5K, and he did SO good!

One of the things we love about the Castaway Cay 5K is that it gives you a chance to see a different side of Disney's private island. You get out, get moving, take in the scenery, and earn yourself a little bragging rights as well as an awesome medal, before heading back to enjoy the beach. 🌴☀️

And here's the part that may finally convince even me to do it someday…

The Castaway Cay 5K is now self-guided (and has been for a long while...), so you're not tied to the old organized early-morning start. You can head out during and complete the course at your own pace.

So apparently, I have officially run out of excuses.

Apparently. 😂

For now, though, I'll happily cheer from the beach while Duane collects the bragging rights.
