Travel with Gina M

Travel with Gina M Andy and I are so blessed to be able to travel. Life is so short and there's so much to see.

Our happy place besides our home at Wilmot Creek is on the islands of the Caribbean.

By morning we will be in Fort Lauderdale. We'll be off the ship by 9:00 am but our flight isn't until tomorrow night. So we are booked back into the Riverside for a day use stay. Much better than sitting in the airport for 8 hours.
It's been a great cruise, beautiful weather, ship and ports. We usually have a balcony room which Celebrity calls verandas. This is our first time in an Infinite Veranda. Rather unique. The room has a window wall and the top half lowers to let fresh air in. There are folding doors to separate the area. I understand this type of balcony was introduced with this class of ship.
Great concept! We really enjoyed ours.
I'll leave you with some pictures of our Infinite Veranda and our last sunset at sea.

This morning our Captain told us we were deviating slightly to avoid some rough seas. Well it's just after 10:00 pm and I heard thunder rumbling. Watch this video - wait for it - about 18 seconds in. Wow!

St. Lucia was one of our stops this week. We have fond memories of our previous visits. We hiked the rainforest, enjoying some local treats; we snorkeled at a private location with the most beautiful views of the Pitons. This trip we just did a bus tour of the north island. Although it is a beautiful island, it is very poor. Just stopped for a few pictures.

Hi again. So today is a sea day and we are on our way back to Fort Lauderdale.
Let me catch up on what we've been doing. Yesterday we were at the port of St. Kitts. The island is really called St. Christopher - after Christopher Columbus, the only island he named for himself. A piece of trivia for you.
Anyway we did a safari tour of the rainforest and ended with a beach break. The island is the twin of Nevis which is accessible by ferry.
I was certainly in my element as I love hiking and being under the canopy of trees. Most of my pictures are of the beautiful island flowers. Pictures just don't do them justice.

Now a picture or two of the show.

Tonight we are at the early performance of Awaken. Sound and light show is so good. Singers and dancers work so hard. I'm going to put a few videos of tonight's show in this post.

Today we were in beautiful Antigua. We took another island tour today. Learned a bit about the history of the island sugar mills and the unique Antigua Black Pineapple. The water colour is amazing. Stopped at a small rest stop for a bathroom break and a taste of rum punch. There was the option to zip line but we took a pass today.

Now back to Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands. We didn't have anything booked but just past the port gates there were some local tour taxis looking for folks to take. It was an open air bus with roughly 15 seats and the price was right. We didn't want to go to the beach today, just an island tour. We went up some crazy winding roads to the highest peak and stopped along the way at some beautiful look outs.
Tonight we had an early dinner then changed into swim suits to go to the hot tub. That's the best time to go as everyone is getting ready for dinner. We went to the late entertainment which was the Unique 3, a trio of female singers.

Today was our first island stop of this cruise. We've come off of two sea days. We enjoyed our sea days just unwinding and anticipating the warmth. There is so much to choose from on a sea day, everything from bingo, crafts, Latin dance classes, pickleball, trivia and music at several different venues. We saw a comedy show our first evening. The show was hilarious. We've also seen an amazing vocalist from Ireland and two music presentations, one called Bridges and the other called Smoke and Ivory which was a Cabernet style show.
Not doing a ship tour this year as we were on this ship last year
Gotta go now but I will add more later

On a cruise again! We landed in Fort Lauderdale last night. Stayed at the Riverside Hotel. I stayed here with my mom in 2018 and had happy memories here. It was November last time, beautiful Christmas decorations for the season. This morning we took a walk along Las Olas Boulevard and found a lovely restaurant for breakfast.
Safely on board the Celebrity Ascent for a southern loop of the Caribbean. Stay tuned.
