Today, I had the privilege of speaking with people who are considering downsizing and sharing important tips from a legal perspective.

It was such an honour to speak at the Workable Woman Event Workable Woman Canada and share something that has been on my heart lately.

As a Notary Public, people often expect me to talk about wills, real estate, or finances. While those are important, I chose to speak about something even more valuable—our family.

We spend so much time building careers, growing businesses, investing, and planning for the future. But what if our greatest asset isn’t found in a bank account or investment portfolio?

Our greatest wealth is the health of our relationships, the time we have with the people we love, and the culture we create within our families.

As someone who helps families prepare for the future every day, I’ve learned that legal documents can protect your wishes, but they can never replace meaningful conversations, shared traditions, forgiveness, or time spent together.

One day, our children won’t remember every gift we bought them. They’ll remember how we made them feel, the values we lived by, and the memories we created together.
