Another podcast conversation is out in the world—and this one is a little more personal.

We talked about my journey through more than 40 years in travel, how the industry has changed, and how Travel Like Jenny came to reflect the way I believe travel should be planned: with care, curiosity, good listening, and a real understanding of the person taking the trip.

One of the things I enjoyed most about the conversation was having the chance to look back at how much has changed over the years—and how much hasn’t.

For me, travel has never just been about where someone is going. It’s about why they want to go, what they hope to experience, and how the journey can feel right for them.

I’m very grateful to have had the chance to share a little more of that story.

I recently joined Christal and Darci on the Travel Because You Can podcast for a conversation about Tanzania, safari, conservation, and the experiences that stay with us long after we return home.

We talked about the Great Migration, mobile tented camps, wildlife, the different ways a safari can be experienced—and why Tanzania continues to be such a meaningful destination for me personally.

For me, the most memorable journeys are rarely just about the destination itself.

They are about the guides who bring a place to life, the wildlife encounters that stop you in your tracks, the local connections, the conservation work happening behind the scenes, and the moments you simply could not have planned.

And yes, we also revisited the day a cheetah climbed onto our safari vehicle—an experience I certainly won’t forget.

I’m heading to Southern Tanzania later this year—and once again, I am sooooo excited.

Many travellers know Tanzania through the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and the northern safari circuit, but Southern Tanzania offers something entirely different.

In places such as Nyerere National Park and Ruaha, the landscapes feel vast, remote, and wonderfully untamed. There are fewer vehicles, more space, and a slower, more immersive style of safari. The experience is shaped not only by the wildlife but also by the stillness, the changing light, and the feeling of being somewhere far removed from everyday life.

I’ll be travelling with Asilia Africa to experience the region firsthand—spending time in the camps, learning more about the wildlife and conservation work, and understanding the practical details that make such a difference when matching a safari to the right traveller.

For me, this is one of the most important parts of being a travel advisor. It is not enough to know where a place is on a map. I want to understand how it feels, who it suits, how the journey flows, and why it may be worth travelling a little farther to experience it.

Southern Tanzania has been on my list for a very long time, and I am incredibly grateful that I will soon have the chance to experience it properly.

And yes, I am already counting the days.

Less than an hour from Melbourne, you can leave the city behind and board Puffing Billy, Australia’s much-loved century-old steam train, as it winds through the towering forests and fern gullies of the Dandenong Ranges.

And that is only the beginning.

From there, you could continue to Healesville Sanctuary to see koalas, kangaroos, wombats, and the elusive platypus in a natural bush setting before heading deeper into the Yarra Valley.

This is a region of orchards, vineyards, and cool-climate wines. Punt Road is known for its relaxed tastings, estate-grown wines, and strong connection to the land, while Rochford brings together Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, sparkling wine, dining, and live music.

Then imagine ending the day at Yering Gorge Cottages, surrounded by bushland, with kangaroos often gathering just outside your cottage.

When you return to Melbourne, the experience changes again.

You might join a guided walk through the city’s art-filled laneways, go behind the scenes on the Melbourne Cricket Ground’s stadium tour, or simply hop aboard the free City Circle Tram and watch the city unfold around you.

Then comes dinner.

Côte Basque will bring Basque-inspired wood-fired cooking, Delmonte will focus on classic Italian food and wine, Noẽma will offer modern Greek cuisine shaped by family and generosity, and the reimagined Transit Rooftop Bar will look out across the city and Yarra River.

That is what makes Melbourne every bit different.

Within one trip, you can experience forests, wildlife, vineyards, local food, city energy, art, sports, and some of Australia’s most exciting new dining—all without spending your holiday constantly in transit.

An exciting new partnership for Travel Like Jenny...

I am delighted to be working alongside Dr. Nathalie Gamache (The O***y Doc) as the travel advisor for her inaugural Menopause at Sea educational cruise.

This isn't just a cruise. It is an opportunity for healthcare professionals to combine continuing medical education with the experience of sailing aboard one of Ponant's elegant small expedition ships through the Caribbean.

I'm looking after all of the travel arrangements, from staterooms and flights to pre- and post-cruise planning, while Nathalie delivers what promises to be an outstanding educational program.

Something a little different is taking shape…

I am planning a small Travel With Jenny-hosted safari to Botswana with Letaka Safaris in late April 2027.

This will be Letaka’s Northern Highlights mobile safari—9 nights travelling from Maun to Kasane, ending near the Chobe River.

This is not a polished lodge-to-lodge safari.

It is a mobile tented camp experience for those who want to feel close to the land and learn from exceptional guides.

Think early mornings, campfire meals, wildlife, big skies, mobile tents, bucket showers, long-drop toilets, and the kind of experience that asks you to lean into where you are.

Definitely not for everyone.

But for the right person, I think it could be extraordinary.

To me, this is the kind of journey where the luxury is not about material comforts. It is about the setting, the guiding, the space, the wildlife, and the feeling of being fully immersed in Botswana.

The group will be small, and bookings are now ready to begin.

Botswana has been on my own travel list for a very long time.

After a recent training session with Letaka Safaris, I came away completely lit up by the idea of this trip.

I am now exploring the possibility of a small Travel With Jenny journey on Letaka’s Northern Highlights mobile safari—9 nights travelling from Maun to Kasane, ending with time on the Chobe River.

This would be a very immersive way to experience Botswana.

Think mobile tented camps, campfire meals, early mornings, big skies, exceptional guiding, wildlife, learning, bucket showers, and long-drop toilets.

It is not for everyone — and that is exactly why it needs to be explained honestly.

But for someone who values connection, conservation, guiding, wildlife, and the chance to feel properly out in the landscape, I think this could be something very special.

At this stage, I am simply gauging interest and looking at possible shoulder-season timing rather than peak-season pricing.

This quarterly magazine is a seasonal collection of travel stories, thoughtful ideas, and journeys chosen with care—for travel that feels personal, meaningful, and well-matched.

Inside this first issue, you’ll find stories and inspiration close to my heart, including the Amazon and Galápagos, expedition cruising, and travel that is designed around fit rather than formula.

This week, I am heading to the Amazon and the Galápagos, and my packing situation is currently somewhere between “organized travel advisor” and “what on earth am I doing?”

But this is part of the process.

Rain layers. Lightweight clothing. Binoculars. Wetsuit pieces. Travel documents. Chargers. A few things I will probably remove from the bag and then put back in again.

I’ll be travelling with my advisor hat firmly on, paying attention to the pace, logistics, transfers, lodge experience, ship experience, packing realities, and all the small details that can make a big difference for future clients.

These are the kinds of journeys where firsthand knowledge really matters.

I can read the brochures, attend the webinars, and speak with suppliers, but there is nothing quite like experiencing the rhythm of a trip myself.

Amazon and Galápagos, here I come.

This is the kind of route launch that quietly changes everything…

Fiji Airways is now flying into the Gold Coast (OOL), and from a planning perspective, this is a really exciting shift.

Because it’s not just about adding another flight…
it’s about how you experience Australia from the moment you land.

Instead of always funnelling through the bigger cities, you can now arrive straight into that relaxed coastal pocket—close to the beaches, the hinterland, and places like Byron Bay that feel completely different from Sydney.

And (my favourite part)… it makes combining Fiji and Australia feel seamless.

Already dreaming up:
• Fiji first, then straight into the Gold Coast
• Northern NSW road trips + tucked-away stays
• Brisbane, the Whitsundays… or even further afield
• Or layering in a totally different contrast with the Outback

These are the kinds of shifts that open up new ways to travel—more thoughtful, more intentional, and a little less expected.

And those are always the journeys that stay with you.
