This week, I am heading to the Amazon and the Galápagos, and my packing situation is currently somewhere between “organized travel advisor” and “what on earth am I doing?”

But this is part of the process.

Rain layers. Lightweight clothing. Binoculars. Wetsuit pieces. Travel documents. Chargers. A few things I will probably remove from the bag and then put back in again.

I’ll be travelling with my advisor hat firmly on, paying attention to the pace, logistics, transfers, lodge experience, ship experience, packing realities, and all the small details that can make a big difference for future clients.

These are the kinds of journeys where firsthand knowledge really matters.

I can read the brochures, attend the webinars, and speak with suppliers, but there is nothing quite like experiencing the rhythm of a trip myself.

Amazon and Galápagos, here I come.

This is the kind of route launch that quietly changes everything…

Fiji Airways is now flying into the Gold Coast (OOL), and from a planning perspective, this is a really exciting shift.

Because it’s not just about adding another flight…
it’s about how you experience Australia from the moment you land.

Instead of always funnelling through the bigger cities, you can now arrive straight into that relaxed coastal pocket—close to the beaches, the hinterland, and places like Byron Bay that feel completely different from Sydney.

And (my favourite part)… it makes combining Fiji and Australia feel seamless.

Already dreaming up:
• Fiji first, then straight into the Gold Coast
• Northern NSW road trips + tucked-away stays
• Brisbane, the Whitsundays… or even further afield
• Or layering in a totally different contrast with the Outback

These are the kinds of shifts that open up new ways to travel—more thoughtful, more intentional, and a little less expected.

And those are always the journeys that stay with you.

There is something I hear all the time…

“I don’t think a safari is really my thing.”

And honestly, I get it.

For a lot of people, a safari brings up images of early mornings, long drives, and ticking animals off a list.

But what if it wasn’t like that at all?

What if it was slower… more personal… and felt completely different from what you expected?

That’s exactly what I’ve been working on this month—sharing a different way of looking at safari and Tanzania.

And I have to say… putting it all together has made me want to go back again. 😊

If Africa has ever crossed your mind—even quietly—it might be worth a second look.

This month I’m shining the TLJ Spotlight on Lindblad Expeditions, a company that delivers some of the most meaningful expedition travel experiences in the world.

A few years ago, I spent 23 incredible nights aboard the National Geographic Endurance exploring Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falklands. It was one of those journeys that stays with you long after you return home.

What stood out to me wasn’t just the wildlife and landscapes — although those were extraordinary. It was the entire experience. The expedition team, learning from scientists and naturalists onboard, the sense of discovery each day, and the community that naturally forms among travellers who are curious about the world.

Expedition travel with Lindblad isn’t just about visiting remote places — it’s about understanding them.

For March, I’m also featuring one of their journeys as Jenny’s Journey of the Month:
Scotland’s Wild Isles — exploring the Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland.

It’s a beautiful example of the kind of expedition experience Lindblad does so well.

If expedition travel is something you’ve been curious about, I’d be very happy to share more.

This week I had the opportunity to sit on my first luxury panel at Travel Market Place—and I honestly didn’t know what to expect.

What stayed with me most is how much our industry is shifting. Clients are not asking for the most expensive experience—they are asking for the one that feels right.

One of the questions I now ask clients is:
“How do you want to feel when you return home?”

That answer shapes everything that follows.

We spoke about the idea that a higher price automatically equals better luxury. I don’t believe that’s always true. For me, luxury is alignment—the right experience, for the right traveller, at the right time.

It was a thoughtful conversation and a reminder that our role is evolving from booking trips to designing experiences clients could not create on their own.

Moments like this remind me how important the advisor perspective really is.

February Pick of the Month
Taronga Zoo, Sydney!

I’ve visited Taronga Zoo many times over the years — and have even been fortunate enough to stay at the Wildlife Retreat overlooking Sydney Harbour. Every time, I’m reminded that this is so much more than “just a zoo.”

Perched in one of the most iconic positions on Sydney Harbour, Taronga is just a short ferry ride from downtown Sydney—yet it feels worlds away. Arriving by water, with the city skyline behind you and wildlife ahead, is something truly special.

What has struck me recently is their deep and ongoing commitment to conservation. Home to more than 5,000 animals, Taronga is a not-for-profit organisation leading important breeding programs and wildlife research and now planning a new state-of-the-art wildlife hospital. The work being done behind the scenes is powerful and meaningful.

For those wanting to go deeper, there are incredible behind-the-scenes experiences, overnight stays at the Wildlife Retreat, and dining at Me-Gai with breathtaking harbour views.

Sydney with purpose. Wildlife with heart. Conservation in action.

That’s why Taronga Zoo is my February Pick of the Month.

If Sydney is on your radar this year, I’d love to chat about how to experience it beyond the usual highlights.

Later in February, I’ll be speaking on a Luxury Travel panel at an industry event in Vancouver, discussing how travel has shifted from being transactional to truly transformational.

This topic matters deeply to me — because the trips that change us aren’t about luxury labels or ticking boxes. They’re about connection, perspective, and experiences that stay with you long after you’re home.

It’s the lens I use when I design travel for my clients, and I’m proud to be part of a wider industry conversation that’s moving in this direction.

January Pick of the Month: MACq 01 Hotel, Hobart ✨

If you love staying somewhere that feels meaningful, not generic, then MACq 01 is a hotel I absolutely adore recommending.

Set right on Hobart’s historic waterfront, MACq 01 is a storytelling hotel—every room is inspired by a real Tasmanian character, from explorers and artists to pioneers and change-makers. It’s not just a place to sleep… it’s a place that connects you to Tasmania’s rich past and vibrant present.

Add in:
A perfect waterfront location
Walkable access to Salamanca Place & Battery Point
Easy ferry access to MONA
Stylish, contemporary rooms with harbour or mountain views

January is one of the best times to visit Tasmania, and MACq 01 makes an ideal base—whether you’re spending a few nights in Hobart or starting a longer Tasmanian adventure.

There are some places in the world that don’t just take your breath away—they quiet your mind, stir your soul, and stay with you long after you’ve gone.

For me, Uluru-Kata Tjuta is one of those places.
The new Uluru-Kata Tjuta Signature Walk, part of the Great Walks of Australia collection, lets travellers experience this sacred landscape in a way few ever do—walking through the desert by day and staying exclusively inside the National Park by night.

Think architecturally designed eco-camps that blend into the landscape, guided walks between the ancient domes of Kata Tjuta and the base of Uluru, stargazing dinners under endless desert skies, and even a final stay at a private lodge with wellness rituals and panoramic views of the rock itself.

It’s not about how far you walk, but how deeply you connect—to the land, to the stories, and to the stillness of the Red Centre. 🌾

If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring Australia’s heart in a meaningful, luxurious, and sustainable way, this is it.

Let’s talk about making the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Signature Walk part of your next adventure.

Jenny’s Pick of the Month ✨
Meet The Frames, a boutique luxury property perched on the Murray River in South Australia. Owned by the lovely Rick and Cathy Edmonds — whom I first met at ATE in Brisbane — this is a hidden gem where luxury meets authenticity. Think private pools, curated local food and wine, and immersive river experiences.
➡️ This is the kind of place I love recommending because it’s more than a stay — it’s a story.
Would you add The Frames to your Australia wish list? 🇦🇺

Tasmania may be small, but it is mighty—and it truly surprised me. Invited by Tourism Australia, I had the chance to explore this remarkable island for the first time, and I was struck by how much it offers travelers seeking something authentic and unforgettable.

Highlights included passionate conservation work at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, world-class wine at Mayfield Estate, the incredible landscapes of Freycinet and Maria Island, and cultural depth at sites like the Cascades Female Factory and the storytelling at MACq1. Add to that the joy of Hobart’s Salamanca Market, unique dining, and the unforgettable MONA experience, and Tasmania revealed itself as both refined and raw, easy to navigate yet endlessly rewarding.

For travelers who think they’ve “done” Australia, Tasmania is a destination that will surprise, delight, and stay with you. I can’t wait to share it with my clients.
