Sled Island

Sled Island A multi-venue music and arts festival taking place in Calgary, Alberta each June. But Sled Island is about more than just five days in June.

Since its inception in 2007, Sled Island has been proud to showcase a whopping 852 unique Alberta bands, including 630 from Calgary, as well as comedy, film, art, special events and conference programming in 154 unique Calgary venues to a combined audience of more than 415,000 people. The organization operates with only three full-time staff as well as a passionate base of support made up of 400+

volunteers annually and 550 unique partners to date. It’s a year-round catalyst for music, arts and community and a beloved connector of partners, volunteers, artists and audience members. The festival is a leader in fostering all-ages, green, safer spaces, inclusion and accessibility initiatives. It’s also an important economic driver. A 2015 economic impact study produced by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance showed that Sled Island generated $3.4 million in economic activity for Alberta that year.

As we near the end of the summer and begin to look forward to 2027, this year's Birdies for Kids program is coming to a close on August 31.

All donations made through the program until the end of the month are matched up to 50%! This means a donation of $50 becomes $75, $100 becomes $150, etc., thanks to Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink.

As we approach our 20th year as an organization, we remain committed to bringing unique cultural experiences to Calgary, but we can’t do that without the support of our generous donors. Help us make sure that Sled Island will be around for decades to come!
