Somebody tells me Japan is the dream. Been the dream for years.
Then nothing happens, and eventually they decide the problem is money, or time, or that they are
simply not the kind of person who does things like that.
It is none of those.
Japan is step seven. They are standing at step zero trying to make one enormous leap, and then
treating the fact that they cannot as a character flaw.
So what does step one actually look like?
Going for Japanese food. In your own city. On a Tuesday.
I know. It sounds so small it is almost insulting. But something genuinely happens. You go eat the
food. A few weeks later you hunt down the ridiculous fluffy pancakes. Then you are learning ten
words on an app for no reason at all.
And you stop being someone dreaming about Japan and start being someone who is already slightly
in it.

By the time you book, you are not leaping. You are just taking the next step.
What is your step seven? Tell me the country and I will tell you the step one.

Behind the scenes confession: I almost lost a client today because the hotel website beat my professional travel agent rates! 😳👇
I was booking a stay at the Red Lion Inn & Suites in Butte, Montana, comparing my wholesale platforms like BedsOnline and Expedia TAAP against the hotel’s direct site. The result? A senior discount on the hotel site completely blew my advisor tools out of the water.
Here’s why that happens:
🏨 Exclusive Direct Rates: Hotels keep specific promo codes (Senior 65+, AAA, AARP, and member rates) strictly on their own system.
💸 Wholesale Limits: Wholesaler APIs don’t always pull live floor rates or age-based discounts for midscale roadside hotels.
As a travel advisor, my goal is NEVER to force you into a higher rate for a commission. If booking direct saves you money on a quick road trip stop, I’m going to tell you to book it yourself! We bring maximum value on complex itineraries, cruises, group trips, and handling disruptions—not overcharging you on a one-night hotel stay.
Would you prefer an agent who hides the lowest price, or one who keeps it real? Let me know in the comments! 💬👇

🚢 Base fare, all-inclusive, or just buy the drink package?

When it comes to booking a cruise vacation, the cheapest-looking option isn’t always the best deal.

So what’s actually worth it?

🥂 All-inclusive cruise
🚢 Base cruise fare + add-ons
🍹 Just buying a cruise drink package

It really depends on how you travel, how much you drink, what you want included, and what you actually value on vacation.

And this is exactly why I don’t believe in giving everyone the same cruise recommendation. Your perfect cruise vacation should fit you, not whatever package happens to be advertised.

Save this for the next time you’re comparing cruise prices, cruise packages, drink packages, and all-inclusive vacations!

And if you’re planning a cruise from Canada and want someone to help you figure out what actually makes sense for your vacation, that’s literally what I do. ✈️

If your idea of a good time involves beautiful places, bucket-list vacations, fancy hotels, beach days, and saying “I’ll never forget this trip”… we should probably be friends. ✈️🌊

And if you’re in Canada and think AI can plan your vacation just as well as a real travel advisor… I have some thoughts. 😂

Because your vacation shouldn’t feel like it was assembled by an algorithm.

I want to know you. Your travel style. Your personality. The things you’ve always wanted to see. The kind of trip you’ll still be talking about five years from now.

Whether your bucket list says Nice, France, a dreamy beach vacation, a luxury escape, or something completely unexpected… let’s make it happen.

Follow for travel inspiration, bucket-list vacations, and personalized travel planning from a Canadian travel advisor.

August was a fun one. 🥹

From training for my next 5K, to road trips with the cat to Dairy Queen and Airdrie, to somehow being inducted into Rotary 😂

There were spontaneous moments with friends, the ones who really matter. There were some seriously valuable supplier trainings so I can stay in tip-top shape to help you plan your next vacation. ✈️

And, of course, there were some pretty fun Side Quests along the way.

But probably most importantly, I took some time to look after my health, too.

August was a little bit of everything.

And honestly? I’m pretty happy with that. ❤️

Bring it on, September.

It is not motivation. It is structure.
Everything on your list is the same size. Every single item is enormous.
Go and look at it right now. Machu Picchu. Japan. See the northern lights. Italy for a month. There is
nothing on that list you could do this weekend. Not one thing.
So the list has no entry point. It is a wall, not a ladder.
And you are not failing at it. You literally cannot start it, because there is no small end to pick up.
That is why I split mine in two. Side Quests are the six month end. Bucket List is the eighteen months
and beyond end. Same list, two sizes, and suddenly there is somewhere to grab hold of.
You did not lose your nerve. You just wrote a list with no bottom rung on it.
Go and look at yours and tell me: is there a single thing on there you could do in the next fourteen
days? Be honest.
Comment QUEST and I’ll DM you.
