The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has officially opened its doors, marking a defining moment for Egypt’s cultural legacy. Within just one week of its long-awaited public debut, the museum welcomed over 130,000 visitors, averaging nearly 19,000 guests each day, as revealed by CEO Ahmed Ghoneim. The excitement reached its peak with 17,000 visitors in a single day, while weekday attendance remained consistently high, exceeding 12,000 guests.

To accommodate the tremendous demand, the museum introduced a digital-first ticketing system — allowing online booking during weekends and public holidays, with on-site purchases available throughout the week.

The GEM’s official inauguration on November 1st was a global affair, attended by 79 official delegations, including 39 kings, princes, and heads of state. The museum’s public opening on November 4th coincided with a milestone moment — the 100th anniversary of Tutankhamun’s tomb discovery, revealing for the first time the entire collection of the young pharaoh in one breathtaking display.
