Today was one of those days that reminds me why I love what we do.

It was an absolute pleasure hosting our guests from Canada Rail Vacations on this Banff to Lake Louise journey. We started with a pickup in Banff and made our way to the still-stunning Lake Louise, before heading into Yoho National Park.

At the Spiral Tunnels, we had one of those rare, perfect moments watching a train weave its way through the mountains, appearing in three different places at once. One of those sights that never gets old.

From there, we slowed things down at Emerald Lake with some quiet time by the water and a picnic out in nature. Then on to Morant’s Curve, where the railway and the Bow River meet in one of the most iconic views in the Rockies.

We wrapped up the day with a walk through Johnston Canyon, a perfect finish to a full day in the mountains.

If you’re curious about the full experience, here’s the tour we followed:

Grateful for wonderful guests, great conversations, and days like this out here in the Canadian Rockies.

There’s a certain moment when you arrive in the Canadian Rockies and everything just… slows down.

Right now, our guests are standing at the edge of Emerald Lake, taking in that unreal shade of green, the stillness of the water, and the quiet that only a place like Yoho National Park can offer.

This is what it’s all about. Not rushing from place to place, but being here. Breathing it in. Letting the mountains do what they do best.

We’re so glad to have you with us in the Canadian Rockies.

That first departure of the year on always feels a little special. It is the moment the season begins again, and this year we get to share it with some wonderful people.

We are so pleased to have Michelle and Brian Sanderson joining us onboard.

Brian is the name behind Sanderson Travel Insurance, someone we have trusted for many years to look after our clients when it matters most. Having that kind of reliability and care behind the scenes makes a real difference in the journeys we create.

It has been ten great years working together, and it feels fitting to be sharing this experience side by side.

Here’s to strong partnerships, a great start to the season, and many more years ahead.

Every year, there is something special about that very first departure of Rocky Mountaineer. It marks the start of a new season, new journeys, and unforgettable moments ahead.

This year, it means even more to us.

We are truly honoured and delighted to welcome Jane and Dave Miller onboard with us. Dave (@) is the original founder of Alberta Blue Sky Tours, a company that has grown into such an important part of what we do today.

To have him and Jane joining us on this first journey of the year feels like coming full circle. From those early days of building something special, to seeing it continue to evolve and thrive, it is a privilege to share this experience together.

Here’s to great memories, incredible scenery, and a season full of amazing journeys.

Fresh snow underfoot, crisp mountain air, and a fantastic group from Canada Rail Vacations made for a perfect day in Banff. We snowshoed along the Spray River, took in the power of Bow Falls, and shared plenty of laughs with smiling faces all around. A beautiful winter day in the Rockies and exactly why we love what we do.

There’s something truly magical about Waterton Lakes National Park – where towering mountains meet deep blue waters and wildflowers dance in the prairie wind.

At Canada Rail Vacations, we love showing our guests some of the most beautiful and historically significant places in Canada – and Waterton is a gem that often surprises and delights.

From the geological wonder of the Lewis Overthrust to the iconic Prince of Wales Hotel overlooking the lake, every corner tells a story.

These guests are travelling with me further up through Banff and Jasper, then boarding Rocky Mountaineer to Vancouver, before continuing on a scenic Alaska cruise – a true coast-to-coast adventure with some of the most breathtaking sights North America has to offer.

Come for the views, stay for the history.

Today we said farewell to Ucluelet and travelled across beautiful Vancouver Island. Along the way, we stopped in Chemainus, the legendary city of murals, where we stretched our legs and admired the vibrant outdoor art gallery.

We continued on through Duncan, the City of Totems, before arriving in Victoria for a brief city tour of BC’s capital. Now we're wrapping up our incredible journey with a farewell dinner at Finn’s Restaurant, right on the Inner Harbour. A perfect end to a memorable tour.

West Coast wonders, all day long!

Today we explored the charming coastal town of Ucluelet, then headed up the road to Tofino, where we wandered through shops and galleries—including a visit to the stunning Roy Henry Vickers Gallery, a true highlight of local Indigenous art.

Then came the adventure: we boarded Zodiacs with Remote Passages for their Hot Springs Explorer Tour. A scenic ride through Clayoquot Sound, wildlife sightings along the way, a rainforest boardwalk hike, and finally—a soak in the natural hot springs, perched at the edge of the Pacific Ocean.
