N.S.-P.E.I. ferry service cancelled until at least mid-July. Missing part needs to be manufactured, shipped and tested before MV Confederation resumes service

Northumberland Ferries says MV Confederation experienced mechanical problem that requires a new part to be installed. It's expected to take three to four weeks to arrive.

PEI Ferry: Vehicles start to be taken off MV Holiday Island; ferry service cancelled for Monday. Tugboats towed the ship into P.E.I. harbour berth Sunday morning.

It wasn't known if passenger vehicles could be saved after a fire aboard the MV Holiday Island on Friday. But vehicles began moving off the ship on Sunday afternoon.

Charlottetown and New Glasgow via Northumberland Ferry
After crossing the tidal Hillsborough River to Stratford, you meander on a two-lane country road past farmlands and through several small towns to get to the ferry dock at Wood Islands, where you take a short ferry ride to the mainland in Nova Scotia. From there it’s a short drive to connect to the Nova Scotia section of the Trans-Canada Highway.

Moncton, NB to Charlottetown, PEI via Confederation Bridge
