India Plans 50 New Airports in 5 Years! ✈️🇮🇳

India is set to significantly expand its aviation network, with plans to build 50 new airports over the next five years, according to Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu. The move is aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and supporting India’s rapidly growing aviation market.

With over 165 operational airports already in service, the addition of 50 more will further improve access to tier-2 and tier-3 cities, reduce travel time, and enhance economic integration across states. India is currently one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the world, driven by rising passenger demand, expanding airlines, and improved infrastructure.

Beyond connectivity, the expansion is expected to unlock significant real estate and commercial development opportunities around new airport hubs. Historically, airports have acted as catalysts for growth, boosting hospitality, logistics, warehousing, residential projects, and business districts in surrounding regions.

The government’s continued focus on airport infrastructure aligns with its broader vision of improving ease of travel, strengthening trade corridors, and supporting long-term economic growth. As new airports come up across the country, they are expected to create jobs, attract investment, and transform regional economies.

India’s aviation expansion signals not just more flights, but a wider push toward connectivity-driven development nationwide. ✈️🏙️

India is counting days to unveil one of its most ambitious cultural projects ever. The Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum in New Delhi is an upcoming landmark where the world will get to know the rich history of Bharat. Envisioned as the world’s largest museum, it will showcase India's journey spanning over 5,000 years and socio-economic evolution through several dynasties, starting from the Indus Valley Civilization under one roof.

Yuge Yugeen Bharat, meaning Evergreen India, is being developed in the historic North Block and South Block buildings at Raisina Hill, in close proximity to the iconic Rashtrapati Bhavan and central power corridor of New Delhi. These North and South Block heritage structures once housed key government ministries and are being transformed into world-class cultural spaces with care for architectural legacy.

Spanning approximately 1.55 lakh square metres, including 80,000 square metres of exhibition space, the museum will have 950 rooms and 30 thematic galleries displaying nearly 100,000 artefacts sourced from the National Museum, Archaeological Survey of India and state collections. It will enlighten visitors about the historical events that have collectively shaped Bharat as modern-day India.

The first gallery, Time and Timelessness, showcasing around 100 landmark artefacts like Indus Valley terracotta, Gupta sculptures and Chola bronzes, is expected to open by the end of 2026. Additional galleries across both blocks will open in phases through 2027 and beyond, making the museum a continuously evolving cultural hub.

Spearheaded by the Ministry of Culture, the project also includes international collaboration with France through France Museums Développement to ensure world-class design and exhibition standards. With an estimated footfall of over 10 million visitors annually, it will take India tourism a notch higher than where it is today.

In a significant victory for the common traveler, the push for affordable airport dining has successfully transitioned from a parliamentary debate to a reality across Indian terminals. Following the viral appeal by MP Raghav Chadha, who criticized the exorbitant cost of basic essentials, the Ministry of Civil Aviation launched the "Udaan Yatri Cafe" initiative. This groundbreaking scheme, which began as a pilot at Kolkata Airport, has now expanded to Chennai and other major hubs, offering tea for just ₹10 and snacks like samosas for ₹20. By replacing "luxury-only" pricing with budget-friendly counters, the government is ensuring that the dignity of the average passenger is protected, effectively making air travel more inclusive. This reform marks a major shift in airport policy, proving that even a single voice in Parliament can trigger a nationwide movement for public relief.

Can an airport give back more water than it uses?
Yes, and India’s busiest hub just proved it.

Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, handling over 40 million passengers a year, has become the country’s first mega-airport to achieve “water-positive” status.

Through 625 rainwater harvesting structures, two underground reservoirs storing 9 million litres, and a 16.6 MLD zero‑liquid‑discharge plant, every drop of water is captured, recycled, and reused.

From cooling systems and landscaping to toilet flushing and potable supply, the airport is now replenishing more water than it consumes.

Big infrastructure can be a force for nature, too.
