Here is a comprehensive summary of the latest travel destinations return-to-service announcements
ANGUILLA All airports are closed and non-essential travel is suspended.
ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA V.C. Bird International Airport has been closed to all incoming commercial traffic since 25MAR, thereby ending the possibility of flights from the customary North American and European tourism source markets.
BAHAMAS All sea ports are closed to regional and international seafaring and private boating. All airports throughout The Bahamas are closed to incoming flights carrying passengers. Hotels in Nassau are preparing to reopen. Hotels in Out Islands and Grand Bahama are closed until further notice.
BARBADOS There is no travel ban, but the Government of Barbados announced there will be a mandatory quarantine for 14 days for all arriving passengers from all countries. Hotels are largely all closed, ground transportation has come to a halt, and companies related to the tourism sector have been brought to a standstill.
CAYMAN ISLANDS All airports in the Cayman Islands will remain closed to international leisure and non-essential travel through 01SEP 2020.
COSTA RICA Costa Rica has closed its borders until 15JUN.
CUBA Cuban airports remain closed to international arrivals through 30JUN, 2020. All tours scheduled to depart 01AUG, 2020 onward are currently operating as scheduled.
CURACAO The Curaçao International Airport is closed for all inbound passengers from all countries.
DOMINICA All ports of entry are closed to passenger traffic until further notice. Therefore, no airlines or ferries are operating into Dominica with passengers. Hotels are closed or in the process of temporary closures as guests have all departed.
FLORIDA The Florida Keys are targeting 01JUN to reopen the destination to visitors following the island chain’s closure to tourists on 22MAR. Plans also call for arriving passenger screenings at EYW and MTH to be suspended. Lodging is to be limited to 50% of standard occupancy during the beginning stages of reopening. Face coverings will be mandatory for both visitors and tourism industry staff members.
GREECE The tourism period begins on 15JUN which is when seasonal hotels can reopen. The destination will also offer sample coronavirus tests to incoming tourists.
GRENADA Grenada closed its borders in MAR. The island’s borders “could open in JUN,” if the government is satisfied with sanitation and safety protocols.
HAWAII Mandatory quarantine for any travellers coming into Hawaii will last until end of June. New arrivals are required to fill out documentation listing their contact and lodging information. They must sign the document acknowledging that violating the quarantine is a criminal offense punishable by a $5,000 fine and up to a year in prison
ITALY Italy has reactivated almost all business activity and will reopen their boarders on 3JUN.
JAMAICA All air and sea ports are closed until 31MAY, with controlled re-entry for Jamaican nationals.
MARTINIQUE The island is and remains in Stage 1 of a 3-stage prevention protocol. All disembarking cruise passengers are being systematically screened. And there are additional sanitary inspectors positioned at the airport.
MEXICO All international travel into and out of the country is closed.
POLAND Borders remain closed to all international arrivals until at least 12JUN, 2020. Shopping centres, museums and galleries re-opened on 4MAY, 2020.
PORTUGAL Portugal is reopening its amenities in phases. Museums, art galleries, restaurants, promenades and churches opened as of 18MAY. Turismo de Portugal has created the “Clean & Safe” stamp, which distinguishes tourist activities that are in compliance with hygiene and cleanliness requirements. This stamp includes hotels, local accommodation, tour operators, restaurant and catering companies. There will be a limit on the number of bathers per beach.
PUERTO RICO Government of Puerto Rico activated the Puerto Rico National Guard to assist with health screenings of all passengers upon arrival into SJU. All commercial flights have been diverted to SJU and all passengers must self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.
All non-essential businesses, including attractions such as tours, national parks and public beaches, are closed. Most hotels remain open, however, public areas and amenities in hotels, such as spas, pools, and recreational areas will be closed.
PUERTO VALLARTA Puerto Vallarta will begin reopening on 18MAY for phase 0, which will take place for at least 15 days. During this time, social distancing, and the use of face masks outside the home will remain mandatory. Beaches, public spaces, bars, and nightclubs will remain closed. Restaurants and cafes may operate at 50 percent of their capacity.
SPAIN Spain has decided to continue to ban tourists from entering the country until July. Spain has five airports and eight ports open. It also implemented a 14-day quarantine for anyone, including its own citizens, who enter the country.
ST KITTS AND NEVIS The borders of the islands are closed until further notice.
SAINT MARTIN/SINT MAARTEN Saint Martin’s reopening plan began on 11MAY. Regular flights are not permitted at Princess Juliana International Airport and at Grand Case Airport. Cruise ships are not welcomed at the cruise ship terminal.
SAINT LUCIA The Government of Saint Lucia announced the reopening of the borders for air travel from 04JUN, 2020. Hotels have expressed interest in the certification process to be able to reopen on 04JUN, 2020. Travellers will not be placed in 14-day quarantine upon arrival.
ST. VINCENT
AND THE GRENADINES People entering the country who have recently travelled to Iran, China, South Korea and Italy will be quarantined for 14 days upon entry. Hotels are open with on-site nurses.
TURKS & CAICOS Airports, hotels, and tourist attractions are closed until 01JUN. Cruise ships are banned from docking at the islands until 30JUN, 2020.
