Clear, crisp fall morning out of Coast Marina and the sun came up gold over the mountains just as we pushed into Seymour Narrows. RYOMA made the trip all the way from Japan for his first taste of Campbell River salmon, and the Narrows delivered.

Light W wind, flat enough water, 10°C and clean visibility for miles. We trolled hoochies behind the flashers down 80 to 120 feet, working the current seams as the tide eased toward the 11:07am slack. The Good solunar window from 9:20 to 11:20 lined right up with the morning bite.

Then the rod loaded. Chrome bright chum, full of fight, came up silver and fresh. RYOMA's grin tells the whole story. First Campbell River fish in the books.

Captain Bruce ran the 17' Boston Whaler Montauk, nimble and perfect for a one-on-one morning on the water. The chum are in and the morning bite has been steady.

The big coho are here! Fresh 10 to 15 lb chrome is pushing through Discovery Passage and stacking up tight to the shorelines. Conditions are prime today — 10°C, overcast, light 8 km/h NW winds and flat calm water into the morning flood. Coho are at peak with chum running strong alongside them.
