From ocean to table—it’s hard to beat a day like this. 🦀🦐🌽

Fresh local Dungeness crab and spot prawns we caught ourselves, paired with garden potatoes, sweet local corn, garlic butter, sausage, and all the fixings for the perfect crab boil.

One of the best parts of living and fishing on the West Coast is being able to enjoy the incredible seafood these waters provide. After an unforgettable day on the water, there’s no better way to wrap it up than gathering around the table with family and friends.

This is what summer on Vancouver Island is all about. ❤️

Family fishing days don’t get much better than this! 🎣

Salmon in the boat, lingcod on the deck, kids with huge smiles, and memories that’ll last a lifetime. It was a pleasure spending the day with this fantastic family as they experienced everything that makes fishing in Campbell River so special.

Thanks for joining us—we can’t wait to fish with you again!

Someone ahead of us must have released a rock cod, and we were lucky enough to witness nature take over.

This incredible bald eagle swooped down, skimmed the surface of the ocean, and grabbed the fish for its unforgettable lunch. 🦅

Moments like this are just another reminder that a day on the water is about so much more than fishing. You never know what amazing wildlife encounter is waiting around the next corner.

Summer in Campbell River just wouldn’t be complete without the scent of smoked salmon in the air.

Fresh, wild, locally caught salmon—carefully prepared and smoked the traditional way.

Once it’s ready, we seal every piece with our chamber vacuum packer, keeping it fresh and beautifully preserved. It’s perfect for holiday gifts, sharing with family and friends, or stocking your freezer to enjoy a taste of summer all year long… right up until next season’s catch.

There’s nothing quite like opening a package in the middle of winter and being reminded of another incredible Campbell River salmon season. 🐟🔥

Sometimes we’re lucky enough to have Pacific white-sided dolphins join us out on the water… and when they do, what a show! 😎🐬

These playful, energetic dolphins never fail to put a smile on everyone’s face. Moments like these are just another reason every trip is an adventure with Denali Charters.

There’s nothing better than seeing smiles like these! 🎣

This crew is having the time of their lives on the water today aboard Denali Charters. We’re especially honoured that this trip was donated to support Cameryn’s Cause—a wonderful local charity founded by the Harris family in loving memory of their daughter, Cameryn.

It’s a privilege to be able to give back to a cause that has meant so much to our community over the years. We hope this day on the water creates memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to the Harris family for everything you continue to do for our community. ❤️

We love meeting visitors from all over, but it’s always extra special when the locals choose to spend a day on the water with us. Thanks for the local support—it means a lot!

Today delivered beautiful Chinook, coho, chunky lingcod, bent rods, and lots of laughs. We’d call that a pretty great day!

Thanks again, guys. See you next time!

🎣 A first salmon charter he won’t soon forget!

We had the absolute pleasure of having Dylan and 6-year-old Bratton out on the water with Denali Charters—and what a day they had!

Lots of action, lots of fish, and one very excited young angler getting the full Campbell River salmon fishing experience. 🙌🎣

There’s something pretty special about seeing a kid experience his first salmon charter, especially when Dad gets to relive a few of his own childhood fishing memories along the way.

Thanks for choosing Denali Charters, Dylan and Bratton. It was a pleasure having you on the boat and being part of such a great memory! ⚓️

Great fishing. Great memories. That’s what it’s all about. 🎣

A little trip down memory lane today…
Dusting off some personal old gear and heading out with good friends, Gerry and Phil.
No downriggers today—just old-school fishing and seeing if the salmon still like it the way they used to.

I’ve been out jigging herring in preparation for the upcoming season, and while doing so we had salmon repeatedly grabbing the herring right off the jig. It instantly took me back to my early guiding days, which all started when I was just 14 years old.

The memories came flooding back, so I gave our youngest daughter, Jacqueline, and her partner, William, a call and invited them to join me for an afternoon of fishing the way I learned all those years ago.

The herring weren’t easy to catch. I managed just one on my first cast, so we rigged up the old-school gear—light fly rods with Hardy Marquis reels—and sent our only herring into the water.

While I continued jigging for bait, that lone herring got hammered by a beautiful coho! After catching enough herring to keep two rods in the water, the action was nonstop. Coho and Chinook were both on the bite, with a couple lost and a couple brought to the boat.

Fishing the old-school way is challenging. No downriggers. No rod holders. Just light tackle, a live herring, the rod in your hands, and the patience to wait for exactly the right moment before setting the hook.

It’s something every angler should experience at least once.

Today wasn’t just about catching fish—it was about sharing a piece of my past with the next generation and reliving the memories that made me fall in love with guiding in the first place.

Sometimes the old ways really are the best ways. 🎣
