I find myself seeking travel that has "more meaning" these days...More culture. More immersion. More experiences that make me stop and think- maybe appreciate my own life a little more, or even challenge me to change my perspective.
Don’t get me wrong… a quick Mexican or Caribbean all-inclusive absolutely has its place! 🍹 When I was younger, I was going to eat and drink my money’s worth! 😂
But now? I want travel to make me feel something.
*Peace.
*Joy.
*Sadness.
*Curiosity.
*Connection.
I want to be *present, in the moment* and actually experience where I am.
For me, that means talking to locals (and if you know me, you know I’m not even a people person 😂), learning about their everyday lives, their traditions, their culture, their history and "why" they do the things they do.
Take away the politics. Take away the religion. Just listen and try to understand the "why". I may still not agree… but I can respect it. ❤️
And then there is my #1 travel obsession… WILDLIFE. 🦥🐘🦒🐋🦜
I could seriously sit for HOURS just watching an animal in its natural environment. There is something incredibly special about being there, in that moment, quietly observing.
Maybe it comes from growing up watching National Geographic and dreaming about seeing some of those animals “in real life” one day. 🥹
And the best part? Travel doesn’t have to be exotic, ultra-luxurious or ridiculously expensive.
There are SO many incredible destinations, experiences and reputable travel suppliers out there now that make meaningful travel more accessible and affordable than people realize.
So maybe my travel style has changed as I’ve gotten older… I’m not necessarily looking for more travel- I’m looking for better moments. Better stories. More connection. More memories.
**What is YOUR motivation when you travel?**
