I had yesterday the great honer to meet Mr. Dumitru Prunariu, first pilot cosmonaut (astronaut) of Romania, at the Consulate General of Romania in Vancouver, thank to the invitation of the Consul General of Romania Mr. Gabriel Rotaru. The attendance was about 20 participants and all eager to listen and absorb the interesting speech of this distinguished guest.
He flew in space abroad Soyuz 40 and space craft Salyut 6 the space laboratory, in a total of 8 days, on May 14, 1981 with the famous cosmonaut (astronaut) Leonid Popov. The presentation was a very interesting one and we all felt proud to hear that Romania is involved in many progects arround the world, thanks to Mr Prunariu, who has very close relationship with many famous people from his field of aeronautics, and special with Canadian astronauts, like Marc Garneau and Julie Payette well known for theirs acomplisments.
