One of our agents just got back from another life-changing trip to Africa, this time, she travelled through East Africa - Kenya and Tanzania.
Her trip with her small group began in Nairobi, Kenya, where they visited the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, which rehabilitates young or injured elephants. They also had a young rhino and zebra there. Following the Trust, they went to Karen Blixen’s “Out of Africa” farmhouse and Rothschild Giraffe Sanctuary.
From there, the group spent 3 days in Amboseli National Park, where they saw many herds of elephants passing, making it an unreal experience!
Following Amboseli, they then went to Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, where they saw everything from the Big 5 to hundreds of thousands of Wildebeest. Kathy shared, “I’d been to Africa previously and had seen much of the same, but that didn’t matter as it was just as new and exciting as my other trips there.”
A moment that stood out the most to Kathy was visiting two Maasai villages. Learning their customs, which have remained traditional and ancient, staying away from most modern conveniences, there they taught the group how to shoot an arrow and their customary circle dance.
For anyone on the fence about booking a trip to East Africa, Kathy shared, “What are you waiting for? It’s the trip of a lifetime! The snow on Kilimanjaro is depleting rapidly due to climate change; this glacier supplies water to the surrounding area, valleys and lakes and once it’s gone, so will the wildlife, sadly.”
