A mother’s instinct never switches off. 🐻❄️🐻❄️🐻❄️
Mom and her two cubs quickly noticed a large male approaching, his face still stained from feeding on a beluga carcass nearby.
She wasn’t taking any chances.
Keeping her cubs close, she led them into the water and put some distance between them and the much larger bear. Fortunately, the male had no interest in the little family and continued on his way.
For a mother polar bear, vigilance is part of survival. When she has young cubs with her, avoiding other bears—especially large males—is often the safest choice.
Just another incredible moment of wild polar bear behaviour here in Churchill, Manitoba. ❤️🔥🐻❄️
