Did you know that Cobourg is home to the last Ten Thousand Villages store in Eastern Canada?? For World Fair Trade Day on May 9th, we wanted to call attention to this non-profit, fair trade, persevering and important shop that markets handcrafted products and helps artisans in developing countries earn income through long-term, fair trading relationships.

Wondering what you'll find at Ten Thousand Villages Cobourg? Well of course you'll discover great gift options (hint, hint, it's a big weekend for the nurturing women in our lives!). Choose from home decor pieces, pick up fair trade coffee or chocolate, pick out a handcrafted journal or even treat yourself (or someone else) to a beautiful piece of jewelry. And there's more, but we only have so many characters to use! (But make sure you visit at Christmas time too, the decorations are so pretty!)

The Fair Trade movement allows agricultural producers, artisans, and workers
around the world to build productive and fulfilling lives through fair wages, safe and humane working conditions and sustainable practices.

If you want to add to the Fair Trade experience, you can also try out some Fair Trade coffee at one of these Northumberland County coffee houses.

🌷 Looking for something to do this weekend? We've got ideas, starting with a visit to see Josh Clark Blossoms . The pop up market, which was a hot spot at Christmas time (even in not so hot weather), is back for spring and he's got beautiful flowers, sweet home decor, hand-poured candles and delicious treats - the perfect gift if you just happen to be looking for something this weekend. Linger a little longer on the picnic tables to chat or pick up a game of corn hole to make a few more memories. Open MAY 9 & 10 from 12PM to 4PM.

🐐 On MAY 10, visit HAUTE GOAT for the Mother of all Mother's Day event. This is definitely a memory-making event with live music, animal interactions (we're talking goats, pigs, alpacas, sheep - Old MacDonald is envious), and delicious farm-fresh food. You can even see how mom's disc golf skills are on the 18-hole course . Truly an unforgettable day.

📆 And there are plenty of other Mother's Day weekend events happening including:
- Port Hope Garden Club Annual Plant Sale | MAY 9
- Mother's Day Sale at Kendor Farms | MAY 9
- Mother's Day Market at Farley Mowat Park | MAY 9
- Makers Market Spring Edition at Focal Brewing | MAY 9
- Passion and Dance - the Music of Spain with La Jeunesse Youth Orchestra | MAY 9
- Mother's Day Tribute to Neil Diamond at Grand Maple Event Centre | MAY 9
- Real Love Kenny & Dolly Tribute at Concert Hall at Victoria Hall | MAY 9
- Mother's Day High Tea at Crockadoodle Cobourg | MAY 10
- Pottery & Alpacas at Old Mill Alpacas | MAY 10
- Mother's Day Beeswax Alchemy Make & Take Candle Workshop with Dancing Bee Equipment | MAY 10
- Where You Are Dinner Theatre with Northumberland Players | MAY 9 & 10

🎁 Good things come in small packages and there's a lot of good in Grafton, Ontario. With creative workshops, a deliciously bustling café, antiques, luxury accommodations and a general store all within close distance of each other, there's plenty to do without going far.

Venture out of the hamlet to find Wicklow Beach, a quiet rocky beach along the shores of Lake Ontario, or explore the outdoors at Nawautin Nature Sanctuary. You can also head north from Highway 2 to find a certified gluten-free bakery with so many good treats, plus a gourmet food truck and an award-winning destination spa (seriously, it's a dream experience). Golfers have 2 courses to choose from and avid cyclists can try 2 different signed, looped routes that go through Grafton.

🌳 Tucked away in the middle of Northumberland's rolling hills, sits the magical Fells Meadows. With 100 acres of forests, trails and meadows, it's an escape from the frantic pace of everyday life.

Fells Meadows offers a variety of accommodations to help you unplug, rest and reset. From the charming farmhouse that sleeps up to 12, to the aptly named off-grid cabins known as The Havens, you'll find options for group getaways and solo retreats. There's even a beautiful canvas-walled tent, and a Hub for The Havens where you can cook, eat, gather or shower. The farmhouse is available to book year round and bookings are now open for The Havens with availability starting in May.

This beautiful location is not just about accommodations though, even if they are pretty spectacular. Fells Meadows also hosts wellness retreats and they have a powerful one coming up soon. The Summer Solstice Weekend Retreat for Women, JUN 19-21, honours spring transitioning to summer. The group will gather to ask: how do we move through this season with our hearts, minds, and bodies intact? Guests will set a conscious tone for the months ahead, balancing the doing with the being, and grounding themselves to stay rooted even when life is full.

The whispering forests, meandering trails, stone labyrinth, sun-warmed yurt, and peaceful accommodations will be your base while Leslie Fell, Sarah Hutchison and Ruth Shaw - all experienced wellness facilitators - help guide you through this change in life seasons.

QUICK TIP: Early bird rates are available until APR 30. If this workshop resonates with you, book your tickets and take advantage of savings until then.
