⛏️ NEW ATTRACTION IN CORONACH! ⛏️
There’s a BIG new piece of history waiting for you in Coronach!
As part of the 100th Anniversary of Coronach, a massive dragline bucket from the local coal mines has been placed on display for visitors to experience up close.
Used to remove the earth above the coal seam, this incredible piece of mining equipment measures an astonishing:
▪️ 16 feet wide
▪️ 30 feet long
▪️ 20 feet high
Seeing it in photos is one thing — standing beside it really shows the scale of the mining history that helped shape our community.
Be sure to stop, snap a photo, and check it out during your next visit to Coronach. This legacy project stands as a tribute to the people, industry, and history that built our town over the past 100 years.

What started as a private antique collection in the home of Allan and Allace Black on Main Street has grown into a community treasure. Purchased in 1986 by the RM of Hart Butte and the Town of Coronach, this collection became the foundation of the museum we know today.
As the collection grew, it found a new home in the former Coronach Union Hospital, an incredible building with its own story, originally built in part from a hangar from the Mossbank Air Force Base and expanded when it opened as a hospital in 1949.
While many of the items come from the original Black Collection, the majority have been generously donated by residents of Coronach and the surrounding area, making this museum a true reflection of our community’s history.
When you walk through the doors, be sure to spot the roaring 1920s mannequin and sign the guest book at the fumed oak desk ✨

🤠Sam Kelly Outlaw Caves 🐎

🚗Stop 5 on the Legends and Landscapes Tour, and also seen during the Outlaw and Effigies Tour, and the Highlights Tour

Step into outlaw country and uncover the legends near Station #1 on the historic Butch Cassidy's Outlaw Trail.
Hidden deep within the rugged beauty of the Big Muddy Badlands, these caves began as natural wolf dens before being enlarged to conceal stolen horses, provide a hideout for the notorious Sam Kelly and are closely tied to the movements of Butch Cassidy and his gang. This remote and fascinating site offers a rare glimpse into the lawless days of the Old West.
Explore the hideouts, take in the dramatic badlands scenery, and imagine life on the run along the Outlaw Trail. As your guide brings the stories to life, you’ll feel the thrill of a time when these hills sheltered fugitives and shaped legends.
Adventure, history, and a touch of danger, discover it all in the Big Muddy.
